| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | Did anyone feel the ground move last night. I was on yahoo, and the headline of earthquake in NYC kinda stood out. It said that the epicenter of the quake happened 10 miles east of Newark at about 1:45am last night. It registered 2.6 on the richter scale. They even had eyewitnesses of it. Did anyone here feel anything like that last night? Objective 2: Root for Braves to exit from playoffs- COMPLETE Objective 3: Root for the Diamondbacks to win the World Series | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | Small Earthquake Shakes New York NEW YORK (AP) - A minor earthquake shook the New York City area early Saturday, rattling the nerves of some residents still jumpy in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Most people slept through the 2.6-magnitude quake, but others flooded the police department with frantic calls. No injuries or damage were reported. The temblor occurred around 1:42 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey (news - web sites). The epicenter was located 10 miles east of Newark, N.J. Many people dialed 911, though police did not have an exact number of calls placed, said Sgt. Brian Burke, a police spokesman. Some callers said they heard a loud booming noise and the sound of breaking glass; others called about minor rattling in their homes. Some residents in the Astoria section of Queens ran out into the street after the quake. ``I'm a little shaken up so I'm going to spend the night at my friend's,'' said Josephine Toscamo. The last significant natural seismic event to strike the city was a magnitude-2.4 earthquake on January 17. | Psychopath Registered: Jul. 01 | Actually a friend of mine lives in Long Island City, Queens and he said he felt it. At first he thought his upstairs neighbor dropped something heavy but he didn't think it would cause the whole building to shake, then he thought maybe it was an expolsion but he didn't hear any ensuing sirens so ohe just went back to whatever he was doing. This is the second earthquake this year to hit that area.
