O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | This same thing happened to me just yesterday, I couldn't see my mouse and the screen was larger than normal. I actually go tthe mouse over the start button to shut down but I couldn't get it over the Okay button to shut down, pain in the ass when you're flying blind. I just unplugged it from the wall and all was cool. I'm sure our new geek moderator will be able to help you when he sees this.

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Ikeaboy, what operating system? Have you installed any new programs lately, maybe even little applets found on the web? It sounds like this one place, http://www.wildtangent.com is the company responsible for the wcmdmgr... sounds like it could be a 3-D screensaver or something perhaps? Anyway, check out these uninstall instructions and see if this is your problem: How do I uninstall the Web Driver and Web Driver content? If you have a recent version of the Web Driver, you can uninstall using Add/ Remove Programs in the Windows control panel- be sure to uninstall the Web Driver and any other Web Driver content first, and the Updater last. If you have an older version of the Web Driver, or if you've uninstalled the Updater before uninstalling other Web Driver content, you can remove the Web Driver by going to your "c:\windows\wt" or "c:\winnt\wt" directory and running the batch file called "stopwcmdr.bat". Then delete the "wt" directory and reboot your computer (If Windows is not letting you delete some of the files in the wt directory, reboot and delete the file after rebooting). There may be other steps involved depending on the product installed and your operating system, please continue reading below to complete the removal. Users of Windows NT and Windows 2000 will also want to delete the start up reference to the Web Driver. This can be accomplished by starting the Regedit utility (Start Menu | Run | "Regedit"), then using the Edit | Find command to search for the string "wcmdmgrl". This entry should be deleted from the registry by right-clicking on it and selecting "delete". Although this step is optional for users of Windows 95, 98, and ME, you may also perform it if you'd like to clean up your registry a bit. If the Web Driver was installed with a music visualizer, after you've removed the Web Driver you'll also need to remove the visualizer. This procedure varies depending on your choice of MP3 player. For Winamp, delete the "wt" directory and the file called "wtwav.dll" from Winamp's "plugins" directory. For Sonique, UltraPlayer, or Windows Media Player, delete the "wt" folder from the "vis" or "visualizations" directory associated with the player. For Real Player, delete the "wt" directory from Finally, if you installed the Web Driver as part of a screensaver, you should also delete the "WildTangent Screen Savers" directory from your "Programs" directory, and remove the file called "WildTangent Screen Savers.scr" file from your "Windows" directory. If you only want to remove a single game, visualizer, or screensaver, without removing all of them, simply remove the directory containing that content. The directories where content is installed is as follows: Games: Screensavers: Visualizers: The individual visualizers are located in the wtvis subfolder of the wt folder; the wt folder will be in different locations for different players. See above for details. Note again that when removing visualizers from Real Player, you should also remove the rpv files associated with the visualizer, found in the Visualizations directory. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Nice detective work, Spork. Ikea, let us know if his suggestion works. If that company is the one who made that program, it might just do it. Even if you don't know that you installed something new, I would still look in the registry. Things run on startup from this path in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run........ also RunServices on the 9x series. Anything you see in that key is a program that loads on startup. You may also want to grab an updated video driver from your laptop manufacturer's site. Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Hmm, for some reason I'm still convinced that it might have something to do with that WCMDMGR.exe file though... that could have been installed via many means, likely one you can't remember (did it show up in add/remove programs in control panel?) I think another use of it is for visualizations for WinAmp, did you install anything like that recently? There are a couple of other things you can try. Reboot your PC, but when you see the "Starting Windows" deal come up, hit F8 right away. Select the "Last Known Good" option. Make SURE that you read that screen carefully, as you need to press "L" and then hit the enter key to get the system to really boot into that mode. To aid our diagnostics, it would also help if you could go to Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. Check the system event logs and see if you have any red marks in there and then check the application logs. I would really try giving the Last Known good a whirl though, that's precisely what it's there for (a bad driver or error or that sort of thing), but it depends how well the system thinks its own health is. It may be that it doesn't think it has booted up well since this change. If that's the case then LNG will work. Let us know, more information = more gooder! Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | It was actually a bit of a tricky one. I honestly have never seen a copy of Windows ME before (not exactly a corporate OS!) and damn, I haven't been doing "desktop support" for a year or so now. It's always about asking the questions though isn't it. Troubleshooting is troubleshooting is troubleshooting. Now I only I can pass my damn test for this crap on Tuesday I'll be a little happier... Rush it out the door. And you've got Windows ME. "Miracles and lucky charms made the girl of my dreams the girl in my arms." - Dr. Frank
