I was thinking about New Year's Resolutions, and although I don't believe in them, it made me think about what I want to accomplish over the long run. Here are some things I want to do in my life:

* Compete in an ironman
* Raise 2 happy kids
* Quit smoking
* Become a foster parent
* Become an FBI agent
* Spend lots of timne doing tbe things I enjoy

So, what do you want to accomplish in your life?

Things I'd like to accomplish? I'd like to finish this beer. I'd like to get my cable modem hooked up soon so this doesn't tie up my phone line. I'd like a really good massage. In the long run, as long as I have a couple dollars in my pocket and a few beers in the fridge, I'm fine.

I'd like to shove Bill O'Reilly into a meat grinder and serve him to the Foxnews cafeteria in the guise of some foul tasting Sloppy Joe.

Here's a tip that will save you alot of grief and time...

Don't believe in and depend on anyone but yourself.

  • I too am looking to do an Ironman. But before that happens I need to run a marathon or two.
  • I'd also like to go to Europe on an extended vacation. This actually looks like it may come true this summer.
  • Do something with my music.

Right now, Im just looking to get through College in one peice. After that, I want to land a job that has something to do with my major. Because I'll be damned if I've worked this hard to end up in some office job I'll hate for the rest of my life.

What's the matter Seph, afraid that the market is going to dry up for Ninja Masters?

There are three major goals I'd like to accomplish.

1. I'd like to build my company into a multi-million dollar corporation

2. I'd like to publish a book of my own poetry

3. I'd like to win the heart of an angel

I believe in the Faith... that can save me.
I believe in the hope and I pray...
That someday it may raise me... above these badlands

Are you forgetting about going to the gym
Froy?

let's see what I want to accomplish in my life...
...
...
...
I'd like to see someone die not like a cancer or
age death but like a gun shot or stabbing. I'm
not saying i'd be the one to kill them mind
you...
I'd also like to develop cheap, usable, easily
workable web shooters.

And seph, we'll all be stuck in an office job so
just suck it up and deal with it. That's my
belief.

No Ikea Boy, he's already doing that, it's what you want to accomplish at some point in the future.
Next time I start a thread I'll make sure it doesn't sound exactly like another thread (what did you accomplish today?) :)

Oh and Maynerd, I suggest your 1st marathon be NYC, it's a lot of fun.

Write To Me Here

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

so there are 18 people logged in, 98 views of this thread yet only 8 people posted something they wanted to accomplish, should I now assume that most people don't have anything they want to accomplish, or people don't want to share what they want to accomplish, or this topic is so dull that it wasn't worth responding? Things that make you go hmm ;)

Kid yoinked my idea, prick.

Other than that I wanna make money and be happy. Oh, I wanna take a vacation too, never done that. A threesome would be cool, too. Wait, I want a Benz. Hmmm, maybe an operation on my ear would be cool. I really wanna buy Drunken GW a beer.

Seph, you poor ignorant college student. Eventually you will learn that no job can ever be fun if you work for someone else. The only way to control whether or not your job is not "hell" is if you are the boss. As long as you have to report to someone, it sucks.

I would like to second that.

As my last paper in college, I had to write a philosophy paper on this exact subject. 6 long term life and goals. Some were very short term, some long term.

1. Move out to my own apartment by 11/1 the year after I graduated - DONE
2. Pay off all my college loans within 1 1/2 years after graduation - DONE
3. Make at least $250,000 one year before I am 30 - DONE
4. Start my own sucessful company
5. Go on Safari in Africa
6. Design my own house
