| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00  | I'm not posting this in Sports because I'm talking about the Olympics as the event, the marketing, the commercials, the internationalness of the whole thing, and I think it could be more topical in OT. Anyway, I'm asking do you care about the winter Olypmics? Do you care who wins? Who's competing? Is it more interesting to you since it's happening in the States? Personally, I'm in the field of not caring one bit nor am I planning on watching it but with the Games coming soon and already commercials on WNEW hoping we ease hostilities in Afghanistan during the Olympics...is anyone the least bit interested? | Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | I've actually always been a fan of the Olympics, both Summer and Winter. I like getting a chance at seeing some of the sports you don't normally get to watch. Plus, the whole country vs. country thing adds to it. I will say, though, that I wish they hadn't been so drama-ed up with all the bios and stories... just show the damn sports! And yeah, looking forward to the hockey, too. Love the "international game." More speed and skating, less gratuitous checking... Wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday Season! | Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | I'm not interested in the events per say, but the whole business side and mgmt of the event fascinates me. Just think about all the coordination and planning that goes into it. Being a sports mgmt major, I've had the pleasure of studying about some of it in some courses. From a facilities mgmt perspective ALONE, its chaos. One of my professors worked for ACOG and some of the stories he has to tell are amazing. I think it would be unbelievable if NY gets it in 2012. There are no good events, I hate the sappy personal stories they get into, and the rest of the world hates when the Olympics are hosted here becuase they hate America. So, not only do the sports suck, but then aftewards, I have to deal with hearing about evil and ingorant Americans are. I wish they'd just end the abomonation.  | ||||

I really don't care about the struggle of people to get their one chance in the olympics. It gets very old, very quickly. I also HATE the commercials they are airing. (A celebration of humanity). We arn't going to lay down are arms during this because the people we are fighting sure as hell won't. The olympics are for civilized counties to compete in sporting events, not for us to end wars or find out about the most intimate details of a figure skater. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | yes i do. as an avid skier/snowboarder, i plan on watching to see if the us team lives up to the boast set forth by their coach...he said 10 medals combined between skiing and snowboarding. i for one will be watching anxiously, rooting on the team... as for the rest of the events...well, no i really won't watch that much  | ||||
