There already WET on TV. That's NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox the WB...i could go on and on. (Well you can exclude UPN, we brothers pretty much own that bitch!)

You are so Full of shit your skin is brown. Everyone knows that the WB stands for the We Black Network. Every Wayans brother and his best friends mom has a show on that station.

And what about colleges? Explain to me how it is quite all right to have Grambling U and the such which have all black students, but when whitey does it, it is a violation of human rights. Oh, and I am sure a white guy can go, but who in their right mind would enroll there?

But they're not LABLED white. If they were, do you really think they'd stand a chance against the NAACP, or any other blatantly racist black group with a nifty acronym?
The term " politically correct" should be relabled " Too damn scared of black lobbyists, so we'll just take the easy route and cave to their pressure, rather than face the bad publicity"
That'd make one hell of an acronym, huh?

God loves you.it's everyone else that thinks you're an asshole.

(Scratching my head- I thought we were having fun?)
NOTE:BEFORE REPLYING TO THIS THREAD PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY. MANY PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD FAIL TO DO THAT FOR SOME REASON

*sigh* not wanting to turn this into another super intense debate let me quickly point these things out.

yes you are partially correct, but three years ago the WB started replaced crap like the Wayans brothers...with crap like Gilmore girls, Dawson's Creek, etc. The Jamie Foxx Show (is it still on?) remains the only show on the WB with a black lead. Am I shedding a tear? Nope. I've stopped watching broadcast TV years ago. I watch cable. :)

I think you answered your own question. ;)
Let me repeat this.
Black people are minorities.
Whites are the majority. When YOU start to experience at least 400 years of enslavement plus many more years of discrimination at all types of levels then you can whine about something trival like naming a network "WET". (is it me or once in a while i bump into someone, somewhere who thinks that same idea?)
Wether you like it or not, there will be always some political correctness in this world.

(one thing i read in todays Daily news:An idiot in the letters section had the nerve to complain that they are calling Rudy the "Time person of the year" instead of Man of the year. With some quick research Time magaizine has given the honor to men, women, groups of people, the computer and even planet earth itself. )

It is an unfortunate reversal or roles but I don't think it's a violation of human rights persay.

For the record schools such as grambling or southern they are offically known as HBCUs or Historically Black colleges and universities.
During the segreation era blacks legally weren't allowed to attend state schooling. The civil rights movement was supposed to end that, but many HBCUs(or black colleges) continue to have predominatly black student populations. Why? because of the past. Any student of any color or race can legally go to these schools. Its just like you said they are not really encouraged to apply to them.

In fact some black colleges are trying to get WHITE students to apply! Odd huh?

(Exiting debate mode, you may now continue to act a fool and joke about the holiday known as kwanza)

============Daily ebonics lesson(tm)============
"Act a fool" means just to act crazy. It does not imply that one is merely acting for show.

(Oh for the record, I don't even celebrate Kwanzaa. Besides my birthday the only holidays worth celebrating are one where I get vacation from school and holiday pay at work. If kwanzaa was a "legal" holiday, I'd and everyone else would be rich this week! One can certainly dream. Now you all gotta agree on that.)

Write To Me Here

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Poor guy doesn't know that it's EXACTLY that attitude that perpetuates racism.
