Ok, now I know that these families are not getting what they think they deserve and there are many people, organizations, etc. trying to raise money for them but I read this article today and it bothered me

quote:

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs will host a concert on February 2nd in New Orleans to benefit victims of the International Association of Black Firefighters; Carl Thomas, Bubba Sparxxx, Jermaine Dupri, Biz Markie, Jadakiss, Black Rob and Nate Dogg are among the guests who will perform . . .
These "performers" are only donating their money to families of black firefighters who died in the WTC. When it comes to donating for this tragedy, what does the money have to be segregated as to who can have it and who can not. They all went the same way.

So my question is, when donating money to the whole 9/11 incident, should there be a segregation as to where the money is going?? How can these organizations feel what they are doing is OK when they are only allowing certain people to benefit from what they are doing?

And I'm sorry if the tables were turned and lets say a handful of white artists got together and donated money to only white firefighters' families...Sharpton and crew would be all over us

Just a thought...

NO!!!!! This money should go to everyone that was affected. The only people that should get more is the people that left more behind. Like, if someone left a wife and someone left a wife and two kids, then obviously the one with the kids should get some more.

The worst is that NOW was going to sue so they could get money to train woman firefighters. People arn't donating for that. They want to help the real people in need.

Well, I lost a cousin in Tower 2 and I know his family can use the cash, but I feel that these performers can dole out the money however they wish, it's 'their' cash. It's not like people are being misled that the money is for everyone and then only given to a select few. It's clearly being done to benefit certain people and that's their right, just as it's your right to decide not to donate.

I heard this balderdash on the news yesterday and just about lost my mind.

Did death seek out black firefighters in a more vicious way than the white firefighters?

Does Puff Daddy really need to reestablish his street cred that badly?

Fucking ponderous.

Well, upon further consideration, I think more money should go to the firefighters that liked anal sex.

All these different charities boggle my mind....I think there should just be one... to benefit everyone affected by the tragedy.

Paralyzed.

Nothing's getting through to me.

Hypnotized from all my surroundings.

I wanna be something I could never be.

I wanna say things that I could never say.

Yeah, I'm gonna do it again!

Sick of my life.

I'm tired of everything in my life.

Dragged down.

Rubbing my face in the ground.

No time for the undecided.

I wanna know why I've always felt alone.

And I wanna love.

Why am I untouchable?

Yeah, I'm gonna do it again!

Sick of my life.

I'm tired of everything in my life.

I never wanted to be sick of my life.

I'm tired of everything in my life.

In a related question, am I the only one who feel that the families of the FDNY and NYPD are getting a way dipraportionate piece of the pie? It seems to me that every charity is geared only toward those families to the exclusion of eveyone else. I don't mean to downplay what they did but I belive the charities should spread the contributions around in a more equitable manner.

All this charity does is cause another division. There is no reason that black firefighters need a special charity...most of the charities in existence already benefit firemen to begin with. If you're going to make a special charity for a special group of people affected, maybe you should look into who most needs the services. Perhaps instead of doing a charity show for black firefighters they can do free concerts for the children of people who were lost in the Trade Center....it might not raise money...but there's nothing wrong with putting on a free show or two for orphans, etc.

Oh, but see, they can't be racists, cause they're black.

Everyone knows only whites can be racist. Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson told me so.

total bullshit. donations should be given to ALL families, regardless of race. the tradgedy affected everyone, not just blacks or whites. segregating donations? come on. thats ridiculous.

AS A FIREFIGHTER,THIS SHIT REALLY PISSES ME OFF!! the money should go to all the families! In all the fires I have been in, not once has race been a factor as to one's ability to fight a fire! There are shitty firefighters that are white, there are shitty firefighters that are black, there are great firefighters that are black, there are great firefighters that are white! All one sees when you go into a fire is another risking his or her life to save lives and the person who is going to watch your back and the back you are going to watch! P-diddy is an asshole!

Write To Me Here

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Honey you left them by the side of my bed last night right next to your Sean John shirt, your red yankee hat and your tommy sweater. I bought your Jordans down to big momma's house. Your cock ring and top hat are at Magoo's house.
