| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | I want to take a minute of your time to make a point about something. Now When I started the Time For The Truth thread, I said it was an experiment. Since the thread is dying down I wanted to make this point. The experiment was an idea I got after a post in the FU forum. Now many people have moved on in recent weeks and many others have stopped posting. I felt that with this thread we could inject that long needed discussion and not just mindless chatting for the board members. Secondly it was an experiment to prove something to certain members. What was I trying to prove was the fact that many people bitch that they post and go unnoticed or that they post and no one knows who they even are after 500 or 1,000 posts. The truth of the matter is we sometimes need that pat on the back and for someone to say "hey good job." I personally don't need it but it's a nice feeling. I was really touched when OAWITE complimented one of my older posts. It's a cool feeling when after an accumilation of deeds that someone recognizes your contributions. Many people who I wanted to post didn't post in the thread but this post right now is also for you. Almost everyones contributions are welcome, wanted and needed. The board has been going downhill for a long fuckin time and you know what I am at the point of say this, stop trying to fix the board. You know why? Because unfortunatly this is the best it can be and will be now, today and tommorow. I say unfortunatly cause no matter what people say yes the old days fuckin rocked. Anyone who says different was either not here and has no idea what they are talking about or was here but was never involved. I also am pretty good at arguing and making my case so I know what many people will reply right now. "Yeah but your thread also turned into a chat thread." Well genius let me say this, chat threads are not a bad thing and chatting IS the point of a message board you chat and discuss things. But here's the difference, why I started the "official chat thread" was for people who just wanna bullshit. The people want and need that and hey let them have it sometimes even I enjoy it but it must be contained just like slash does with the birthday threads. Most of the posts in chat threads turn into discussions between 2 or 3 people, ok well hey that happens. But when the discussion consists of one word replies like "yes" and "no" and when most posts consist of "I'm gonna return my video tapes, later." or "Should i have milk or cocoa?" Then it's just dumb to have that be carried on in several threads. That is the difference between chats. It may be fun for the 3 or 4 people but it has pushed away many veteran posters and newbies who don't wanna bother or who have no fuckin clue. So those are the points I wanted to establish. The experiment to prove that most of you who feel unnoticed or under-appreciated are not that at all. Plus to explain why I have done certain things the last few days. Plus yes it was to set a certain few people into place who thought they were the new flavor who could control shit cause they were so original... sorry pal seen it all already. I am not here to make people happy with my opinion. If that happenes then fine. I like just about everybody on the board, If they dont like me I could care less. Let me explain it like this: The chat threads are like that stupid movie you accidentaly start watching. Then you have to finish it only because you started watching it. Then by the end of the film you say "hey it wasn't that bad." You're not proud of watchig it BUT you won't admit to anyone you watched that piece of shit. Simply put sometimes you are tired and don't wanna be witty, smart or add anything to a discussion and just wanna bullshit. You don't wanna use your brain and just post whatever and chat with someone. I've done it and so have many others so that is the point of the chat threads. I have found this to be a good board filled with members with an excellent sense of humor. Pretty good the way it is now. Sometimes Moderating can be nothing more than a controlled train wreck at times. So far I see you all doing a good job with your input and keeping things under control. So it goes... I can honestly say I wouldn't be here if I hadn't gotten sucked into a chat/game thread when I first started posting here. I, personally, don't come here for stimulating intelligent conversations, mostly because I come here when I am working and I am looking for a break from that very type of discussion.  | ||||
