Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 02 | Question - does Michael Jackson truly have the "right" to sell a Beatle song to an insurance company so they can play it ad nauseum in commercials for said company? You know what...I say we speak up. We all own a piece of the songs we listen to, don't we? I mean, we pay for the music with hard earned cash. So I want a say before you drop the track any ol' wheres and whore it to f*in' death. ________________________________________________________ Tools are tools whether they have 1 post or 1000 posts. I might feel bad for Paul because he lost the rights to his songs, but he is doing the exact same thing with other songs. He owns 'Happy Birthday' and the 'Notre Dame Fight Song' amoung many others. It's a buisness and that's all there is to it. Sure we will all get sick of songs, but radio has done that for us anyway. (Not saying that I'm sick of any Beatle's songs, but I also didn't get to hear them at the height of their popularity. Anyway, Yesterday is the most played song ever!!!) It sucks, but it's life.

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 02 | I have three great examples of why commercials should use someone else's song instead of making up their own: "When you're out to do some celebrating, make sure a DD is doing the navigating." "This buds for you, and you and you and you." "Free-up, Stand-up...(I have no idea what they say but it is for Verizon).

Also I can see this as Michael Jackson realizing how more talented the Beatles are than him and whoring them out to lessen them memory. Also, when was it made acceptable for your song to be used in car commercials. I remember Val kilmer pissed at Dale Cooper for that exact thing "It appears my wee wee has been strucken with rigor mortis." I've purchased illegal substances once- i guess i caused the death of a baby- i wish i could have killed that fucker with my own hands. "Dude, Terrorism is so not cool. "- an RF.neter

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | michael owns the songs, so sure, he can do what he wants with them. do we have to like it?? no, but there is nothing we can do about it... as for boycotting, do you think an insurance company cares if htey lose your business?? nope, wrong again.

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 02 | You want to know what would be hilarious? If you boycotted the insurane company and then someone that uses the compnay hit you. Then they would have to pay for you to fix your car. Would you say, "No thanks. Keep your money. I like the Beatles." ?
