Ends tomorrow. :( It is expensive but they should keep this for longer.

They should find a way, Whether businesses help pay for it. Other states chip in money, or government helps out, I really think this should stay until at least they start building something there.

I agree tw, there has to be some way to keep these lights up at least until they begin re-building what was 7 world trade (i think that is the one they have the plans done for)...

It just makes me realize I suck!

I've lived in Central NJ all my life (so far) and I didn't get to see the tribute. I'm still a little shaken - but I want to visit the site soon. And I have never been to the Statue of Liberty - this is an extra disgrace since my grandfather came through Ellis Island in 1911. What a shame I haven't visited there.

I don't want people to think I'm cold and heartless, but I like the fact that its not going to continue. I thought it was a great "memorial" for the time being, and should be lit up again on special days. But if it was to continue, it would lose its specialness. Its only been on for a short time, and people havent talked about it, except for the first few days, and now that its over. I hope people don't get the wrong impression about this post. Its by no means meant to disrespect the memory of the dead.

People who there in that area look at it every night. My boss lives a couple blocks from the World Trade Center and she thinks about it every single night. From New Jersey, I can see one spotlight because of the distance they combine into one and every night when I walk my dog, look up and remember what happened. So if you are close to it, it is on many people's minds, even though it is no longer in the news.

Very true. Like I said. I hope I didn't come across as insensitive, because I'm not. I just think it lost its impact for non NYers. The NY residents don't need a reminder, it will always be a part of us that no one will forget.

That is the point. It is not for the rest of the country. It is for this area. And for many people around here keeps it as a constant reminder of what happened.

I wish I could have seen the lights. I left NY to come back to school the day before they turned them on and I won't be back for another 3 weeks. I like the way they look in the pictures I've seen but I still wish I would have seen them in person.

I had the luck of being able to see the lights from my bedroom window in my place in Hoboken. I could just lay in bed, kill the lights, and just stare up at them for hours. I am going to miss them... last night I took a drive out of town and back on 78 to see them, and then watched them go out at 11 for the last time. I seriously hope they reconsider, and allow the lights to continue.

I heard they were asking for donations to keep them going another month.

Something like 1,000,000.00 to keep them going another month

I wish they would ask for donations to keep them lit longer. Especially for those who don't live nearby and are honestly trying to get time to get out there to see. I'm sure if they did ask for donations to keep them lit, they would get more than enough to keep them lit. I do really wish I could have gotten out to see the lights, but with work obligations and other things, I couldn't make the trip.
