| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01  | Ok, here's another one I have. I lived in an apartment complex. There are no assigned spots in the parking lot. Shortly after I moved in there, I parked in the first spot in the parking lot, closest to the building. I come out the next day and find the whole side of my car has been keyed. I find out later that one of my neighbors is a little bit looney and seems to think that it's his spot. Other neighbors have had similar problems when parking in that spot, keyed car, slashed tires. I moved out of there several months back. And I found out that he is moving out on March 31st so I'd have to act fast. After the incident, I reported it to the police but there wasn't anything they could really do because I couldnt prove that he did it. But I am almost positive it was him. I filed it with insurance but they only paid me $500 and the bill was $1,100 to get it fixed. The question comes here... Should I retaliate? If so, what should I do? I also should mention that he has a video camera in his apartment window pointing down at his car, and he has been in several mental institutions. Please only give serious answers and honest ones. Don't write telling me to blow up his car or anything stupid like that. I just want to know what you would HONESTLY do in the same situation.  | ||||

Sometimes one has to bite the bullet and move, regardless of how badly one feels like retaliating. I would be jailed if I reacted to all the negativity, ignorance, and overall bad experiences I've encountered. You'll be a better off person in doing so. As to how, being he apparently has his car under surveillance while in that spot, I wouldn't mess with it there - unless you got some kind of disguise, etc. Anyway you do it, don't get caught, 'cause then its your ass. Just a thought, a long-distance retaliation might do the trick - say, blowing out his windows via a pellet rifle of some sort? | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | Following him and then damaging his car would be great. However, you would have to know when he is leaving so you can be waiting in the lot for him. If he goes to work everyday this wouldn't be hard because he would leave at the same time and you can scope out the location. Vandalism is fun and is justified retaliation. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | revernge is sweet, but it is a dish best served cold!!! take out the cameras, and do subtle things, like spilling some coke or pepsi on his car(wait till the summer so it bakes in) also either met-rx or myoplex shakes work great(he will be spending at least 500 bucks getting it refinished) but this must be in the summer that way you can blame the bennys if you live down the shore and reguardless it will bake into the paint!!! And it's an intermittent problem, so he'll never know when it will hit. He'll end up dumping the car with in a month at half the value. Then he will have proof of you committing crime, while ironically, you still won't have any proof he committed crime. Is a paint job on your car worth more than your life? Is it worth that much more aggravation to you? If you retaliate, you will still have a bill, and could probably land yourself in more trouble. There are several non-violent/law-breaking avenues to pursue. I'm a fan of psychological torture myself. It is always more fun, plus it gives you laughs months down the road. Cool off for a bit, sit back and think devious. Think REAL SICK. I do agree with Grumpy, don't fuck with a man's wife/home/gun, makes 100% perfect sense. But the methods of retribution can differ. Two wrongs don't make a right ---- but one wrong, one-thing-that's-so-incredibly-and-completely-fucked-up-that-nobody-can-explain-and-might-make-someobdy-real-scared, do make a right. Can anybody help me here? Any real fucked up ideas? Just one man's opinion. Still "just lurking" | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Okay, the video camera is probably NOT RECORDING all the time. Unless this guy has an unlimited budget and all the free time in the world, the odds of getting caught on tape are slime to none. Older cameras (vhs, Hi8) record for 2- 6 hours at the most, if the machines record on extended play. Newer DV cameras are 90 minutes to 4 hours. If this guy has a high end security system with a digital deck, it could be a problem. A system like that costs upwards of 5k. I don't think the camera is of any real importance. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | If you are 100% positive that he is the one who keyed your car, then some form of retaliation is acceptable. If he really has a video camera that is recording, you have to assume that he monitors it frequently as well. If you are going to do something, make sure that you have a fast way out (make sure he can't see your car) and that whatever you are doing can be done quickly so you can get the hell out of there. Also, I don't know what you do for a living, but if there is a chance you can get fired if you get caught and arrested, it is not worth it either. If you can't do anything physically to his car, you can always call the police from a payphone and say you smell something funny in the apartment and you think someone might be dead (you might have to plant something with an odor) this way at the very least they may break his door down...but I don't know if this is a good idea. :)  | ||||

Is it worth it for $600.00? If you get caught damaging his car it will probably cost more. Sometimes it's just better to walk away, but the decision is ultimately yours. | ||||

Personally, I would pressure the cops to take a more focused interest in this fuck, especially if he possesses the potential to be a threat to himself or others.
