This is probably a really stupid idea. Why don't we start our own internet hoax. I am sure we can think of something believable that people like Knock will believe and e mail to their friends all over the country.

Ok Ok laugh it up ha ha ha. For the record I never said i belive it I said it looks like it could happen.

Oh well glad to see this place hasnt changed much.
I wanted to know what you thought about it. I have a freind who works fo rthe post office and he ws telling me a few months ago that the post office was indeed complaining that they are loosing a ton of money due to emails and the internet. I for one dont want anything like this crap. I didnt belive it then and im still not certain that its true. But in the event it were to happen I wanted to see what you guys thought.

Anyway I gotta go Im having a party and its getting out of control. Santa keeps hitting on the tooth fairy and the Lochness monster called and said he broke down on the turnpike. Not to mention the easter bunny keeps taking the eggs out of the fridge and hiding them all over the apartment.

Oh and for the record it is indeed a hoax. I got the email today it was the first ive heard of this since my buddy yappin about it one night. oh well guess im down to 30% no.

Nice save, knock. That easter bunny bit made me laugh out loud.
Although it is possible,it's very unlikely. The backlash the government would receive would be immense.

Just pretend you see a sig pic here.

You guys would have seen right through that.

Well i tell ya something I did learn today.
Last night I bought Transformers the movie. Unicron is Orsen welles. The whole time Unicron would speak I kept thinking of that peas bit with him. The other thing is I also Picked up Goodfellas On dvd of course. Dr. Melfi is Hendrys wife. This I never realized. I havent seen Goddfellas since the Sapranos began It put a real twist on the movie for me.

-LOL, dam i hate those f'n things. And i get even more pissed at the dum f's who actually believe it.

-But as far as charging for email goes, while that letter was probably a hoax, i can assure that somewhere, there are people fighting to charge for emails. Cuz its costing the postal service mucho money and jobs. But they will probably fail in their efforts and they just have to learn to adapt.

I've gotten this email at least a dozen times, along with the "send this letter to 10 people and you'll see some animation on your computer", that old gag...

Realistically, if the gov't really wanted to cash in on internet services like email and messaging, they would probably institute some new levy tax onto your phone bill/cable bill/ISP provider bill - THAT, to me, is more believeable than a charge per email. (just look at cell phones - $24.99 sounds good to get you to buy a phone, but even if you don't make a fuckin' call for a month, the bill still hits near $30, because of FCC access charges, land-line charges, etc)

People - email like this is about as trustworthy as those letters Ed McMahon sends you telling you that you might be a billionaire, so long as you subscribe to countless magazines.

Wow. You might possibly be the most naieve human being on the face of the earth. From a technological perspective, this would be almost impossible to administer and even more difficult to police. In addition, you shmuck, the bulk of the USPS revenue over the last five years was never person to person correspondence. If you ever walked into a post office you would see the majority of thier business is large package shipping. That's where the money is. They're trying to compete with the big boys...UPS & FEDEX. Their profit loss in stamp revenue is negligible.

And to make an even more obvious observation, what's to prevent us from using external U.S. SMTP and POP3 servers, you fucking retard. Ever hear of something called the GLOBAL Internet? Even if Congress could pass legislature like this, it certainly doesn't prevent a service like HOTMAIL or any other free e-mail provider from moving its services outside US territory and continue to offer thier free e-mail services.

Fuck you for being so stupid.

Grow a fucking brain and think things through before you allow every piece of distributed chain e-mail throw you into a mild panic. That goes for the rest of you shmucks who just endured a mild heart attack.

I develop hard to navigate websites.
