O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Not too be too mainstream here, but I'm currently reading the new King book, Dreamcatcher. Many people say he's not the same as he used to be, his novels have sucked lately, but I have to admit, this one has me hooked pretty well. if there is anyone here that hasn't read a King book, might I suggest, in my opinion, his best work, The Stand. I know it looks manacing to try, because of its size, but its one of the best books I've ever read. Mary Stewart has a good King Arthur series starts with The Crystal Cave. The Bourne Identity by Ludlum is good "big brother" spy shit. Anything by Clive Barker or Stephen King. , Self improvement is masturbation

O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | adolescentmasturbator, that sounds real sick. I am currently re-reading a series by a guy named Robert Jordan, called the eye of the world. Its kinda like lord of the rings in a sense of the world its in, its a great in-depth series about powers and good vs evil, and it totally will suck you in. I tell everyone I meet about it.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Robert Jordan EYE OF THE WORLD series rocks. (9 books!) Dan Simmons HYPERION series also rocks. (only 3 books) THE POET by Michael Connelley (serial killer thrilla) THE GOLD COAST by Nelson DeMille (mobsters invade the last vestige of the old wealthy areas on Long Island) Kurt Vonnegut's MOTHER NIGHT & CATS CRADLE are great books. Gore Vidals's AARON BURR, is also good. SKINNY LEGS AND ALL by Tom Robbins is also a great book about the silliness of religons. Flying the Friendly Skies... Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | I'm reading A HEARTBREAKING WORK OF STAGGERING GENIUS by Dave Eggers. It's a really weird book in a schizophrenic sort of way. It's his first novel. If you liked Pulp Fiction you'll like this book. Care to stick your hot dog in between my buns?

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Survivor was real good better than Fight Club in my opinion. I found it great how he became a neo-messiah. I hope Invisible Monsters can live up to both of em. Anyone hear about any new books coming from Palahniuk. He is basically my favorite modern writer these days. E-Mail Me Head its just not for breakfast anymore

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I disagree there. Fight Club is far superior to Survivor. Survivor loses it's point about halfway thru, and just meanders, then tries to regroup. Loses it's point entireally. Fight Club hits like a tire iron, and keeps to it to the very end. His next book, CHOKE comes out MAY 2001, by the way. Only 256 pages. O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I am almost done with Lord of the Dead : The Secret History of Byron by Tom Holland...this is a very intriguing book based on the life of Byron, but saying that he turned into a vampire during a trip to Greece...if you read this, though, forget all of the conventions Anne Rice placed on vampires because his reality of being a vampire is very different from that of Lestat or Louis, etc. I like that it uses a lot of biographical detail and passages from Byron's writing and those of his acquaintances at the beginning of each chapter, and you realize that this could actually be plausible. That's enough of a book report now LOL <

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | My next will probably definitely be Invisible Monsters. After I may finally get around to reading the Divine Comedy or the Jack Ryan series. I am actually going through an "encyclopedia" on Satanic Crimes and Cults which is interesting and may end up reading Helter Skelter sooner or later. Survivor, while I felt it did lose itself somewhere, it did regroup near the end and would probably make one hell of a movie if done right. As for movies- I am looking forward to seeing Memento which is supposed to be excellent.

Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 | I'm reading a thriller/mystery based on the murder of the "Black Dahlia" that happened in the 40's or 50's. This chick was a very mysterious woman who dressed in black all the time and she was also somewhat of a (ahem,) slut.. It was also rumored that she had infantile genetalia and was incapable of intercourse. Seems she met up and teased the wrong guy and he wound up killing her (not just killing her, but draining her body of blood in a bathtub, cutting her body completely in half, slicing up her face till she was practically unrecognizable and taking her corpse out to a field and arranging it in a provacative manner so the cops could find it that way). The murder is still unsolved to this day....

Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | I've read Terry Prattcht and Neil Giamon's Good Omens over twenty times. Friggin' hilarious. It's one of those great books that, after reading it once, you can pick up any time afterwards, flip open to anywhere, and just start reading again. I'm also reading the Soprano Sorcerres trillogy by L.E. Moddesit. Absolutely captivating. In the non-fiction area, I'd reccomend In Cold Blood by Capote. I read it last summer and it really stayed with me. Breakfast at Tiffany's is also one of my favorites. And, as always, having to plug the X-Men....
