| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | Man Busted In Stabbing of Boy By DEREK ROSE, RICHARD WEIR and LEO STANDORA Daily News Staff Writers n 8-year-old boy playing on a Bronx sidewalk was stabbed and seriously injured yesterday by a wild-eyed man who erupted in anger after the boy bounced a ball off his front door, police and witnesses said. The boy, identified as Ritchy Bermudez, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he underwent surgery for wounds in the stomach, arm and buttocks. Doctors said last night he was in stable condition, and his injuries were nonlife threatening. Cops and witnesses said the youngster's mother, Lillian Violencia, screamed, "No, no, no!" in a vain attempt to stop the attack, then dragged her badly bleeding son to safety across the street. They said that after attacking the boy, 30-year-old Jose Almonte licked the knife blade clean, then briefly barricaded himself in his basement at 2284 Grand Ave. in University Heights. Detective James Livingston said cops tried to talk Almonte out, but then burst in after he refused. "He surrendered with no fight, no nothing," Livingston said. The knife Almonte allegedly used on the boy was recovered. Almonte was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a minor and reckless endangerment. Investigators said the drama unfolded about 5:30 p.m. in front of the six-story brick building, where Ritchy and his mother also live. Ritchy, a small, thin youngster known as Corey to his pals, was among a group of kids who were chatting, skateboarding, and playing ball on the sidewalk in the sunny spring weather, they said. A friend, Prince Arias, 16, said "Corey was bouncing a basketball, and it got away from him and hit the door of the basement apartment. Suddenly, the guy comes running out yelling, 'Who did that?'" Arias said Corey replied, "'I did,' and the guy just came over and stabbed him in the stomach and his arm. He bent over to hold in the pain, [and] he stabbed him in the behind." Anthony Santana, 14, said that before going back to his apartment, Almonte looked menacingly at him and his younger brother. "When he saw he couldn't get us," he said, "he licked the blood off the knife and went in." Another unidentified teen said Corey's mother, who happened to come out of the building during the attack, "dragged him across the street and propped him against a tree until the ambulance came." Witnesses said Almonte was laughing when cops brought him out of the apartment in handcuffs. Neighbors described Almonte as a loner who sometimes sat on the apartment building's steps listening to his boom box. Some said they believed he was emotionally disturbed, but police said last night that Almonte had no documented history of psychiatric treatment. ------------------------------------------ Then I saw it was in the Bronx --whew -- mistaken thoughts -- lol ---Sick fucks in this world (what's with lick'n the blood off the knife?)
