Mine's a toss up between two Stephen King stories
"IT" (with all the death and little kids fucking each other, who wouldn't enjoy such a tale?) and The "Dark Tower" series.

well my favorite author is Dostoyevsky and Crime and Punishment would have to be my favorite.

I know it's somewhat cliche but i do love shakespeare and MacBeth has to be one of my fav's.

I also enjoy any dashill hammet mystery like the thin man series and the maltese falcon.

Mine's definitely Desperation by Stephen King. I've heard great things about the Dark Tower series, but I refuse to read it until he finishes the series. The Stand was excellent too.

Backstreet Boys or N*Sync?

Both of them. Locked in a house, on fire, surrounded by trick fire extinguishers filled with gasoline.

Oh, I don't know, it's kind of a toss up for me.

Either The Bible or Nympho Sluts from Outer Space.

i agree dryblood, this is definetly a first on the board. But like the movie or music threads.

I think a top 10 list would do, its tough to pick just one. I'll do one a bit later but definetly keep this one at the top.

This is a 1st for here, but I'm a very versatile person...books, music, movies, video games, wrestling, baseball, etc...

My favorites are:
--all of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice....from Interview with the Vampire to the newest one Merrick

--I also love all of the Kay Scarpetta novels by Patricia Cornwell (all that medical examiner/serial killer shit)

My favorite classic has to be Brave New World[
--that one really makes you think

any James Patterson book is great. He wrote the book for the movie "kiss the girls" and "along came a spider" is going to silver screen this summer
all his books with detective alex cross are great crime serial killer dramas with great detail and macabe themes. got to be a sick fuck to think of the things in these books

I love The Stand by Stephen King. I have read that fuckin book at least ten times!

I also love the book The Day After Tomorrowby Allan Folsom. That is a must read. It is basicly about the restart of the Nazi Regime. Pretty wicked shit goes on in this one!

And I must mention The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice. Another classic!

Holy shit, who thought I could read?

And Thats The Bottom Line.....

Let's see.. that's a tough one for me... not! "Lord Of The Rings" of course:
Three Rings for Elven Kings Under the Sky,
Seven for the Dwarf Lords in Their Halls of Stone,
Nine for Mortal Men Doomed to Die,
One for the Dark Lord on His Dark Throne,
In the Land of Mordor, Where the Shadows Lie,
One Ring to Rule Them All,
One Ring to Find Them,
One Ring to Bring Them All,
And in the Darkness Bind Them,
In the Land of Mordor, Where the Shadows Lie.
(OK, I'm sorry, but I've been waiting since I joined this board for the opportunity to post that.. I couldn't pass it up)

Also David Eddings' Belgariad series is a close second.

and my all time favorite one

someone help me out on this one.

I been doing a lot of re-reads this year because i can't find anything too good out there.

I just got this book called 'Lord Of The Dead' i forget the author. But from what i gathered it's about a woman searching out the truth about the myth that The Lord Byron was a vampire.

Has anyone read this one?

Holy Shit, GonzoStyle....I JUST borrowed that from my friend, haven't gotten that far yet, just to like pg. 100, but it's a really good book so far...we'll discuss it after we're both done lol

as far as vampire books, besides the Chronicles, I, Vampire is a good read (can't remember the author)!

(and Sean, Lestat is the best of them all, and I heard they're making a movie of it, so I hope they don't fuck it up like the 1st one.)

OK, if we are being serious:

Any of the series by W.E.B. Griffin - Excellent

The Day After Tomorrow - Excellent (Read The Berkut if you liked this can't remember the author)

Almost anything by Stephen Hunter - Excellent

David Hagberg/Sean Flannery - Excellent for Cold War Fans

Nelson DeMille has not written a bad book.

Oh, and Shakespeare is, well, Shakespeare, can't beat that.

Hemingway is nice.

Joseph Heller is a scream if you get him.

John Sandford is interesting.

John R. Maxim is very cool.

Oh, I'll be back when I have time. Now, I'm thinking of the hours that I've spent buried in books.

The Stand is tops on my list, as well as Desperation and the Dark Tower series (big King reader here)

Also, a Graphic novel from the 80's, called The Watchmen. For those who know of it, yes, it was a comic book, but it read like a novel, and it was a hell of a story. (still available today, if you know where to look)

Goddamn, I completely diregarded nonfiction!
(I highly recommend "Caught In the Crossfire: The Biography of Stevie Ray Vaughn".) And Gonzo, you brought so many books to mind. Fuck the top ten, I'd need a top hundred--we all would.
