just want to say happy fathers day to my dad, who is a really great guy. he came to this country with nothing so his children could have a better life than he did, and worked his ass off so we could live well. everything he has now he built from nothing, no family no connections not even any friends, and it was all for me and my sister. i don't get to say it much but thanks dad for everything you do. ben seni seviyorum.

was i a fool to think, the way you looked at me
i swear you did, but you looked away too quick
was i a fool to think that you'd take me home as if i was yours

well, my dad lives in fla, so i only see him once or twice a year these days, but i'd like to thank you kim, i sent him that poem too. although i'm sure he's probably just gonna rag on me for getting sappy (he's a big southpark fan, if that tells you anything) anyway, happy day to all the dads here, and happy memories to all those who's dad's have gone to a better place. :)

Grumpy, no lie, that was so sweet. Bless you for being so lucky, to be able to love & appreciate your Dad like that.

My Dad & Mom split when I was 12, but in all fairness to my Dad, he remained as a major presence in my life. I saw him at least weekly, and he was always wonderful to me. I did & do have many issues with him, but he's apologized (mainly for being too strict when I was a child), & we've pretty much worked all that crap out.

So...here's my Damn Dad Dedication:

I love you, Dad, for always being there for me.

I love you, Dad, for playing Sea Monster w/me in the pool in Columbus, KS

I love you, Dad, for the voice I inherited from you, the ability to sing, which brings me more joy than anything else in life. ANYTHING.

I love you, Dad, for your beautiful singing voice, which still, as it always has, gives me chills. Thank you for being so creative and making your living doing what you love.

I love you, Dad, for being smart and witty and funny.

I even love you, Dad, for your silly punnery!! (GROAN)

& I love you most, Dad, for always being on my side.

And I'm crying now, so I guess I'm done.

Great thread, Grumpy. Thanks dude.

Happy Father's Day, Dad. I love you with all my heart. You've guided me through some tough times and you made me laugh at the sweet times. I know I make you proud and that is the greatest accomplishment of my life.

This is kind of late but this is the first time I've read the board in a while and I wanted to say happy father's day to all the dads on this board! Also, happy father's day to my dad. Thank you dad for being the best dad i could ever ask for! I love you more than you'll ever know and I could ever express. You have given my siblings and I an amazing life. You are the most generous, kind, and caring man i have ever met. I am truely proud to be your daughter. I may not be the innocent little girl that I once was but I will forever be your little girl and so I thank you for being such a wonderful part of my life. Thank you for not only being a fantastic father but also a great role model, teacher, and most of all, an incredible friend. And to all the dads on this board, happy father's day! I hope you all had a great day :)

Thanks dad for putting aside a whole hour of time for me today (well yesterday now) I trully appreciate it, with your busy schedule of waxing your car and watching tv and all.

A late reply to bobSpecker-

Hello and welcome. Please get adopted, you'll have much a better time that way.

If you've been lurking here for a while, then the meaning of "Do not defile this thread" should be quite clear to you. As Captain Obvious would say, it means, don't joke on this thread.
There are PLENTY of threads to choose from where anyone, including yourself, can tool (i.e., "be humorous") to their heart's content.

"Do not defile" doesn't show up often. When it does, IMHO, it should be respected. By everyone.

Happy Father's Day dad.. You mean the world to me and you know that. we dont see each other that often because we live so far away from each other, but we talk via e mail and the phone. You know I will see you this weekend.
You have done more for me than anyone else in the world and I can never re-pay you enough. You took me in when I was 15, and couldn't live with my mother anymore, and have taught me well. Now, as you get ready to go into the hospital this weekend to get your throat operated on to make sure you dont have cancer, I am thinking about you every second of the day, and will be with you every step of the way, no matter what. I love ya dad

To all the Fathers on the Board, may you have enjoyed a wonderful Fathers Day. To the expectant Fathers, with God's help, soon you will holding a unique and loving creation, may your child bring you a lifetime of happiness.

I've read and saved the poems posted here wiping my tears all yesterday afternoon. I wrote up something, took too long and when I went to post, I was timed out and lost the entire thing. So I'm posting again. Some of the poems I read here I have given to my father, and some of them I will save for another time (God willing, a day that will never come) when I will need the strength of those words to say a final farewell. Thanks for posting them, guys.

To my Dad: Being a musician meant that many times, you weren't able to be there for many things (you were always working). For those times that you were able to get to family events, you made them more special. I remember when, on rare occasions you walked us to school, you would get there and suddenly declare it a holiday and sneak us away for "daughters day". You sacrificed everything to put my sister and me through private school, to give us the things you didn't have. You taught me that family is important and to be respected. You taught me to stand up and fight for what I believed in even though it wasn't always the popular choice. You and Mom made a happy home for us, full of great music and lots of laughter. Looking back, I know that it all could not have been as easy as it seemed. You never compromised affection for your family even through that tough exterior. You showed me that to be a good friend meant appreciating the chance to have them in my life. Daddy, you taught me not to be afraid to fail and that you were proud of me for taking the chance and trying. You've taught me so much. During the past weeks that have been filled with so much tension as we pull together to help you battle prostate cancer, you've never shown us you were afraid, even though we knew you were. Don't worry, Dad, it's going to be ok. We're strong because you are.

Daddy, I love you.

Special thanks to Grumpy for starting this wonderful thread.

Joy honey, my thoughts will be with your Dad, and with your family also.
I'll bet with all of the support & love behind him, he'll be OK.

Banana-I hope you get good news about your Dad. Try not to be scared, & try to be strong for him. He's gonna need you.

Banana, thank you... with all that is on your mind right now, I was touched by your response. I hope everything is fine with your Father and that you enjoy the weekend with him and thanks for the words of support for my Dad. We are their legacy, you know.

Claire, that laugh, your friendship-- they get me through the tuff ones... thanks so much. O&AS, very nice, total class... thanks a lot.

On another note, to get off of my subject for a second, I want to send a belated happy fathers day out to snakebite. He posted in the FU forum a few weeks ago about something that happened ,and I just want to let him know that we are all here for him still, and I hope he had the best Fathers day possible.
