My dad flies Flight for Life helicopters in the Denver/Rocky Mountain area. He always comes home with really nasty stories about car accidents. That last pic was pretty nasty. Looks like he got the top of his head sliced right off. I could taste the bile rising up my throat as I looked at those.

That Guy II, How fucking sick are you to walk up to those bodies and start snapping pics. The guy in the Ferrari was an asshole and I could give a shit about him, but the poor couple in the Volvo are innocent victims that don’t need some shmuck like you making light of it.

2 Die in Street-Race Crash
Sports cars speed out of control,
killing innocent driver

By BILL EGBERT and BILL HUTCHINSON
Daily News Staff Writers

A pair of drag-racing sports cars careened out of control on Long Island yesterday — sparking a head-on collision that killed an innocent driver and one of the racers, police said.

A souped-up 1990 Corvette involved in the deadly race was equipped with a roll bar and a professional race car-type seat belt harness — and had a vanity license plate reading LOV2XLR8 (Love to Accelerate), cops said.

Police say Glenn Jacofsky was killed in this Volvo when a Lamborghini racing south swerved into his lane and hit him head-on.
The smashup happened just after 4 p.m. on Lawson Blvd. in Oceanside, a stretch of road that neighbors say is plagued by illegal drag racing.

"Witnesses said the cars were cutting in and out of traffic, drag racing," said Officer Adele Burke, a Nassau County Police spokeswoman.

Killed in the crash was Glenn Jacofsky, 43, of Oceanside, a father of two who was driving a Volvo north on Lawson Blvd. when a Lamborghini racing south swerved into his lane and hit him head-on, police said.

Jacofsky's wife, Amy, 43, a passenger in the car, was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Michael Vasapolli, the driver of this Lamborghini, also died in the crash.
Also killed was Michael Vasapolli, 30, of North Woodmere, L.I., the driver of the 2001 Lamborghini convertible. Vasapolli's wife, Karen, a passenger in the $300,000 Lamborghini, was taken to Long Beach Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the Corvette, Kevin Hart, 27, of Malverne, L.I., suffered minor injuries after crashing into a parked school bus, police said. Cops planned to charge Hart with two counts of second-degree manslaughter.

Police said his modified Corvette had a red button behind the stick shift. They were investigating whether the button was used to inject nitrous oxide into the fuel line to make the car go faster. A man who answered the phone at Hart's house yesterday declined to comment.

Police did not immediately know how fast the racing cars were traveling when the accident occurred, but they said the speeds were far higher than the posted 40 mph limit.

Vaspolli's Lamborghini is capable of doing zero to 60 mph in four seconds, and can hit speeds of 200 mph.

High-performance cars like Hart's and Vaspolli's are featured in the drag-racing thriller "The Fast and the Furious," which was released Friday and was playing at a theater near yesterday's crash scene.

Jacofsky's heartbroken brother, Bernard, said he was agonizing over how to tell his 13-year-old niece and 9-year-old nephew, who are away at camp, that their father is dead.

"He was the center of our family," Bernard Jacofsky said of his brother, who sold telecommunications equipment.

Bernard Jacofsky said he was throwing a birthday party for his son yesterday and was expecting his brother and sister-in-law when he received the tragic news. "He was a great father, a loving husband and a brilliant businessman," Jacofsky said.

Local people said they've complained of cars racing on Lawson Blvd. for years.

"It's straight strip from here to Long Beach," said Anthony Dencker, 22, of East Rockaway, L.I. "Anybody with a fast car around here is looking for a straightaway."
