i'd rather have that pirate copy where some star wars freaky purists or something edited out Jar Jar Binks. That movie blew... all the magic of experiencing the others from my childhood is gone.

Sidenote... I think Godfather series is coming out on DVD soon too.. I might bite the bullet and buy the whole thing, even if I do get sucked into buying III. I could always use it as a coaster.

Man, Phantom Menace left me feeling empty. My hopes for a movie, that was strongly based on character and plot, was reeeeened. They counted on special effects to sell this movie, they counted wrong. I am sure the Star Wars maniacs will buy it, I'd rather spend my money on X-Men, now that movie rocked.Talk about character development.

King... I actually thought the special effects in a new hope through jedi were better than this movie. Yes they were puppets and models and stuff, but they certainly looked more real than the computer animations in episode one. that's what blew it for me... it's easier to believe living breathing, walking actors inside costumes than it is a computer generated image. I was severely disappointed. I couldn't agree with you more in the sense that they not only counted on the effects to sell this movie, they overdid it... in my opinion completely cheapening it.

Was anyone really waiting? Even I don't care. The 1st Episode wasn't good, overused CGI when models would be far more effective and I thought AI used CGI better than this movie did.

I'm more waiting for the original trilogy than this one. And, as someone mentioned, Godfather trilogy on DVD is more exciting than this.

By the way Dogma special edition 2 disc DVD kicks total ass.

Well, special effects, are going to be better year by year, they have too. You have more computing power to make it all the more real looking. When I watched the movie, IMHO I was extremely disappointed, why kill off Liam Neeson, he was one of the few holding up his end in the acting. Though Darth Maul was pretty cool looking.

First off Liam Neeson usually is pretty good acting wise. Secondly they had to kill him off because he was Obi-Wan Kenobi's Obi-Wan Kenobi and in Star Wars fashion they kill off the mentor. And yes, Maul was cool.

George Lucas not utilizing DTS sound? What's up with that? I think I'll wait for the whole packaged series, even though that might not be for a while.

Who waits for a DVD to come out? You own the video. What, the "special features" are worth the wait? Most of the time there is a reason the scenes didnt make the film.....they sucked. Interviews with the director and actors? Who cares what they have to say about the film? Its pretty much all BS anyway. They arent gonna tell you about the vial of crack they smoked before that scene or which extra they screwed so who cares? Am I the only one that doesn't give a crap about "special features"? Dont get me wrong, DVD's are superior. But "Special Edition" DVD's? What's the point?

I learned my lesson the first time around. I will wait for the trilogy to be completed and then wait for the directors gold edition with the additional added scenes to be released.

Actually the special edition DVDs are usually lmuch worth it as with the case of Dogma (which I did wait for special edition) and others and I personally love commentaties. If you like a movie you'll wait for a great DVD of it.

Also, I don't own Episode 1 DVD but not going to cum my shorts over this one.

Lucas is rumored to be releasing one dvd per year, Ep1 being this X-Mas' release.

In addition to the added extras, dvds are good for better sound and video due to the digital nature of the disk.

No, I dont care about the interviews. No, I dont care about extra scenes. If the scenes were so great, they would have been in the movie in the first place. "Special Editions" cost more than regular DVD's, correct? Looks like another way to get money out of you to me. Yes, I know DVD's have superior sound and picture. Im not against DVD's. Im against releasing a "Special Editon" DVD. And what happened to just including those extra scenes and interviews as part of a regular DVD? Why do they have to release a "Special Edition" DVD? Most DVD's come with these little extras anyway.

Why was anyone waiting, the movie sucked. With Jedi that put the hints in there of gearing it towards kids (OK, everyone say Ewoks with me now). That continued with this. Jar-Jar piece of shit had 86 minutes of screen time. All he was was Roger Rabbit in another outfit. He single handidly ruined the movie. All of the parts, the other 40min., that he wasn't in were great. Good story line, good acting. Then they put him on and wrecked it. I love Star Wars, but if EP. 2 looks anything like this one I won't go see it. My company shutdown and went to see it on opening day, 25 out of 26 of us said it was awful. He can keep his DVD and make a better movie next time.

Not necessarily. I often see movies that were rereleased as "special editions" at the same or lower prices. Most recently, The Crow and Dogma.
