| Hanger-On Registered: Sep. 00 | FFXI is not coming to Xbox as of now, as was poster earlier. It is PS2 only, which makes sense because Sony owns a large chunk of SquareSoft. It does look like a pretty cool game, though. I was turned off by the online-only aspects of it at first, but the only real difference is that you are only in control of one character in battle, not the entire party. I guess we'll see. I'm editor of Extreme Gaming magazine (issue #2 out now, btw) so if I get any info out of Sony, I'll post it asap. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | I have played and enjoyed every Final Fantasy game ever made with the exception of 2 and 3 (No, I'm NOT talking about 4 and 6 for you psuedofans)for Famicon. I have decided that I will not be getting Final Fantasy XI. Why? Simply because I do not like the whole online game genre. Its just not for me. I don't think this was a generally a foolish idea from Square. I'm sure it will be popular. But online games are not for me, I'll just bide my time until Final Fantasy XII. | Hanger-On Registered: Dec. 01 | well, according to maxim, ffxi will be out for ps2 and pc where ffxii will go back to single player and ps2 only. of course there is plenty of time for that. and i did not know xbox came with a broadband adapter...i guess thats even better than modem...eventually. | ||||

Square revises PlayOnline monthly fee plans With the exception of its content games, like Final Fantasy XI, Square's PlayOnline service will no longer incur a monthly fee. SquareSoft has announced that its PlayOnline service will no longer incur a monthly fee. However, some of the products that will use the service, like the online RPG Final Fantasy XI, will still have its own monthly fees. Square's PlayOnline service is scheduled to begin this spring in Japan. The online network service lets registered users access e-mail, chat rooms, and games such as Final Fantasy XI and Tetra Master. The company plans to announce further details sometime next month. The beta test for Final Fantasy XI for the PlayStation 2 is currently underway in Japan. We'll have more on the game in the near future. got this of gamespot -lol FFXI will be multiplayer for PS2.
