quote:

Hello again everybody on this fine day. Tis' a fine day for WG'ers such as yourselves. We have here today a batch of screenshots from the new THQ game Smackdown 'Just Bring it' which promises to be a hum-dinger, the first wrestling game produced for the next gen console by THQ, and the sequel to the smash hit Smackdown 2: Know Your Role from late last year.

The screenshots seem to be very familiar to the style of gameplay seen in Smackdown 2. If you haven't played Smackdown 2, and are a wrestling game fan then you do NOT know what you are missing, and it's a good thing. Take my word for it.

Despite the similar feel of the game, Smackdown 'Just Bring it' boasts tons upon tons of modes, new features and of course, an updated roster. Currently on WWF television drastic changes to the roster is being made, the new WCW/ECW merger along with the different stables within WWF itself change all the time. So it's extremely hard for THQ to pinpoint the roster before release. One thing is for sure, it's one of the FINAL additions to the game, however despite that fact. You can guarantee you'll be seeing your favorites like:

The Rock, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Kurt Angle (My favorite), Undertaker, Kane, Jericho, and Benoit. Plus a ton of other superstars who are on the roster.

I was dissapointed with Smackdown! 2, they didnt even include the last man standing match, u cant have tag team TLC, no street fight unless you use Hardcore as street fight but i am dissapointed, and please will someone include an Inferno match its not that hard all u do is put fire round the ring. How bout a buried alive match, or maybe atleast more than two people allowed in a cage match at a time, WWF attitude atleast lets u have a triple threat or war cage match, how bout u get to choose the participants in royal rumble and K.O.R. rather than random. What bout first blood match, or submission matches??? And on the game WWF No Mercy for N64, u can atleast pull out weapons even if its not a hardcore match and hit em, even if u get DQed its realistic, and u can do more than just a piledriver or a powerbomb on a table, comon, SmackDown! 3 better include those ones, and how bout a tag- team ladder match too, that i would like!

I would really like to see a greatly improved Season/Storyline mode. The one from SMACKDOWN 2! was really basic and repetitive. Plus, it would have shitheads like Xpac in the IC title fueds.

Also, it would be nice to be able to take the matches onto more than one setting. For instance, a fight can spill up the ramp into backstage or the hardcore title brawls can be all over an arena.

Finally, there needs to be some kind of feature that actually makes PPVs a little more special than just regular matches. Any suggestions?

I'm pissing my pants in anticipation! Smackdown: Know Your Role is one of the reasons I am going to finally buy a PS2 system.

I just hope the update the realism to the point where I can fight in the stands, put a ladder in between the ropes and slam my oponenet into it, break every obstacle in my way, etc.

I'm still constantly playing Smackdown 2 and the thing that makes me angry are the repetetive, stupid looking movies. I hope that there's more variety added to this new smackdown and that they include as many wrestlers as they possibly can.
**************************************************

What i'd really like to play is a WWF Legends game where i can fight against wrestling legends of the past and present. That would be nearly impossible, though. It would have to be a three or four disk game.

Not really - the licensing issues would be the main hold up. PS2 has DVD-ROM = more then 6 CDs worth. THe only game i know of that is DVD based is rayman.

- The following is confirmed info for SmakcDown 3: Just Bring It on the PS2:

- There will be 9 wrestling characters on screen at one time. Now 2 are the commentators Tazz and Michael Cole, and one is the ref. Which mean you can have 6 wrestlers on screen at one time.

- The Ref is fully interactive. You can attack him and he can attack you. The good thing is he may not DQ you, he may count slower for you or faster for your opponent.

- The current arena settings in the game are Raw is War, Smackdown (the old set, not the new one), Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania X-Seven. It not known if the new Smackdown set will be put in.

- The 3 stages of hell mode has also been announced. This is a 2 out of 3 falls match like the one Steve Austin and Triple H had at No Way Out 2001.

i read somewhere about "roaming mode" where u can just roam backstage during a show, and run in and interfere with matches at any time you choose
