And my reset I mean it wiped out all its drivers and only had the deffult windows programs/drivers loaded. All my icons are still there, but when I try to open the I get some messge like" The Admin failed to install this program" Just wondering if that has ever happened to anyone, because it just happened to me

you say admin, is this a business computer on a network or is this your personal computer at home?

MST3KLD, that has never happened. I would assume that was the virus that has been going around in the past week.

I'd need a little bit more information to give you a really meaningful diagnosis. If there is an error message indicating "local administrator" I'm assuming that you're running Windows 2000?

If so, right click down on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen (make sure that it's a blank area in there so you're not clicking on an open program). Then click on the advanced tab in the taskbar properties and enable the 'Administrative Tools' section.

Then go to start, programs and administrative tools. Click on Event Viewer and see what you can see.

no. I have a home network (two comps and not a crossover network), 98se. The prob happened with my new comp. 1.2 Tbird, 512bm pc-2100, geforce2 ultra. When I go to play HL, the screen goes blank (once I am in game), and green lines appear at the top of my monitor (like lines for the volume control on a tv). I lost power three times in about 30mins. There wasn;t an eletrical storm. So it might have been a brown out.

Well I reformatted my HD, and the problem was still there. I then realized that my ram might have gotten fried. So I took one out and now my comp seems to be running fine.
Thanks for the help
