LONG LIVE THE KING

In the most recent edition of EGM Magazine, Jerry "The King" Lawler is briefly interviewed about the upcoming wrestling Game, "Legends of Wrestling". Here is that excerpt from the magazine:

A former WWF announcer, wrestler and partner in crime without he late goofball comedian Andy Kauffman, Jerry "The King" Lawler was already widely considered a "legend" of wrestling long before Acclaim approached him to be in their game. We corner this 20-year veteran of the ring – who got his start in wrestling by drawing caricatures of wrestlers in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn. – to find out just how good it is to be king.

EGM: How does it feel to be named a "Legend of Wrestling"?
JERRY LAWLER: Naturally, it’s nice to be spoken of in the same breath as some of the other people who are considered legends in this business, but by the same token, I still consider that I have a long time left in my wrestling career. I feel as if I’m probably in the best shape I’ve been in my entire career.

EGM: What do you think it takes to earn the right to be called a "Legend of Wrestling"?
JL: Well, certainly I think one of the things is time in the business. I’ve been in the business for more than 20 years, and I try to think of how many guys have been around that long and still to this day remain a vialble3 commodity. I try to change with the times and stay current with things that are going on and happening.

EGM: Have you seen or played Legends of Wrestling yet?
JL: I have not. I’ve only just heard about it so far, and everything I’ve heard is great. I can’t wait to actually get it in my hands, see it and play it myself. Hopefully, I can be able to kick some serious butt as my character.

EGM: Are you a big video gamer?
JL: I know this is an interview for a video game magazine, but to be perfectly honest, I have some video games but I’m not addicted to them. I got to where all of a sudden I’d sit down on the computer and, three hours later, I’m saying, "What the heck? I’ve gotta get out of here. I gotta do something else!"

EGM: Legends of Wrestling is the first non-WWF game you’ve appeared in. How does it feel to now be on the other side of the fence?
JL: I’m exited about it. I think that there’s definitely a market out there for product other than the WWF, and I think that competition is good for everybody. It’s even good for the WWF. I don’t think that they want to be the absolute only game in town. Not that it’s being monopolistic, but it’s good for people to have a choice, and then they decide for themselves which thing they like better.

EGM: Ever since you left the WWF, there have been daily rumors about you coming back. Is that in the cards for you?
JL: Right now I haven’t talked with anybody in the WWF for a couple of months. A coupe of months ago, they called and made me the offer to come back, and at that time, I wouldn’t come back without my wife, Stacy, and so the offer was pulled off the table. Since that time, Stacy and I have separated and are going through a divorce, so she would no longer be a part of that equation. I’m assuming that if there was interest two months ago, there might still be interest now. I realize in retrospect that they were in the right and I was in the wrong, and I’ll admit that. But now I think it’s one of those situations where I’m waiting for them to call me one more time, but they may be thinking, "We’ve called him enough: if he wants to come back, he’s gonna have to call us." So that may be where we are. I may have to break down and make the call [laughs].

The King should come back for the Alliance this way he can continue acting the way he was supporting the heels.

Without a doubt lawler was the best color man in the business. Plus since his split with his wife (Kat) i think the WWF should consider taking him back.

shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government
of the people, by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

You notice no one is calling King a legend for his wrestling ability?

I hope you've got your things together.
I hope you're well prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.

What is truly funny is everyone including myself
wants Lawler back, but at the same time I keep
thinking, what an f'n tool for leaving in the
first place. The Kat married him for money in my
opinion, Bottom Line! Even when she got fired, she
did not want him to leave, she encouraged him to
stay with the WWF, why? So she could still collect
some of his fat check each week. Then when they
stopped commin in, she bolted, only to wind up on
the internet suckin some guys C. But, in all
honesty, f Stacy, and BRING BACK THE KING!
