WWF MADISON SQUARE GARDEN RESULTS

by Mike Johnson Updated: 10/14/2001 5:48:54 PM

The World Wrestling Federation made it's return to Madison Square Garden this afternoon. Complete results:
*Billy Gunn pinned Justin Credible with the Famouser.

*Perry Saturn pinned Tommy Dreamer (who received a standing ovation from a portion of the ringside audience when he entered the ring) with a twisting cradle suplex.

*Matt Hardy and Lita defeated Mighty Molly and Hurricane after a double Twist of Fate.

*Test pinned Kane after Booker T's interference set up Test hitting his big boot. Test and T beat on Kane, bringing out the Undertaker. Kane and Test brawled to the back, leaving their partners to begin the next impromptu match....

*The Undertaker pinned Booker T with the Last Ride. One ringside fan was riding UT about his age, asking when he was going to retire. In a hilarious moment, UT responded, "When your mother retires from the streets." Ouch!

*Kurt Angle defeated William Regal. During a pin attempt, Tazz came out and pulled the referee from the ring. WWF Commissioner Mick Foley ran out, brawled with Tazz and tossed him into the railing, before unveiling Mr. Socko and using it to drag the "Human Wrecking Machine" back to the locker room. Angle's entrance included red, white, and blue confetti raining down upon the Garden.

*Jeff Hardy pinned Chris Kanyon with a swanton bomb. Good match with both working hard.

*WWF Light Heavyweight champion X-Pac pinned Yoshihiro Tajiri with the X-Factor. Short match but lots of action. Fans chanted "ECW" for Tajiri.

*WWF Tag Team champions the Dudley Boyz with Stacy Kiebler defeated the APA when Bubba pinned Farooq after the 3-d while Kiebler held Bradshaw's boot to keep him from breaking up the pin.

*WCW champion the Rock defeated WWF champion Steve Austin in a title vs. title match by disqualification when the Dudleys attacked the Rock. Good back and forth match.

Notes: Before the show began, they played several promotional videos on the Garden's big screen including a Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley photo shoot. They ran the promos again during intermission....At the open of the show, Howard Finkel introduced Jim Ross, who made a speech about being an American and how proud the WWF was to be back in New York to entertain the fans....Lillian Garcia sang the national anthem flanked by a color guard from Connecticut. Garcia's voice is plain awesome....Many of the wrestlers were wearing New York Fire Department and Police Department shirts in a show of respect for those lost in the September 11th tragedy....Several national guardsmen in uniform sat ringside. As Stacy Kiebler left the ring following the Dudleys-APA match, one of them presented her with a beret, which she wore to the back. Most of the boys made sure to acknowledge the guardsmen...They were filming footage, presumably for a Sunday Night Heat or Raw video package...The show was not sold out, the first MSG in some time not to do so. I would guess 13,000-15,000 but it was hard to tell as the crowd was still coming in (due to increased security at the Garden) at the show began...Among those making their in-ring MSG debuts were Booker, Dreamer, Hurricane, Kanyon, and Kiebler... The legendary Classy Freddie Blassie was in attendance at the show, watching from the crowd with his wife after visiting backstage.
