It spiced WCW's show up, and boosted their ratings, at one point they even ran neck and neck with the WWF, and I think they actually were winning the ratings battle for a short time. Unfortunately, the last 2 and a half years of the NWO was a complete fiasco. You wanna talk about storylines that went on too long? The NWO made Beowulf look like a see spot run book. The angle was much the same, only at first they tried to sell it as WWF guys invading WCW, until WWF sued, and then they had to come up with a catchy name like New World Order. The theory was more that they were going to TAKE OVER WCW and make it their own promotion than simply destroy it, but it's just the same. As slackjaw said, it got to be over kill after 6 months as WCW couldn't have anything successful without ruining it through overdoing it, but for 6 months it was the greatest angle period, and it actually gave off the impression that a worthless peice of crap like Kevin Nash was a big draw when infact, the storyline was what made him popular. Now, THAT'S a storyline. I like that they're keeping the black and white "Nazi propoganda" commercials part of the gimick as we saw on Smackdown. It really sells them as Outsiders trying to brainwash people into thinking like them to start a revolution to eventually destroy the WWF. And it'll get them over as heels to the new fans. I mean, they have to be evil, they showed Hitler on their promo for God's sakes! Dammit, I'm really getting into this angle. Just what I DIDN'T want to do when I found out these three were coming.
