This is a rather interesting piece of info from Wade Keller, pwtorch.com, and the Torch Newsletter:

-----------

As detailed this week in the Torch Newsletter (which subscribers began receiving Wednesday this week) and as first reported last week on the Torch 900 Hotline, the Torch has learned that the top three matches for WrestleMania are slated to be as follows:

-Chris Jericho vs. Triple H for the WWF Hvt. Title
-The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan
-Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall

There is also talk of a match involving Kevin Nash and Undertaker, although since both are heels, that may be switched around. There is also talk of Nash & X-Pac vs. Undertaker & Kane, or other tag combinations.

The undercard, as usual, won't be a priority until after Sunday's No Way Out PPV.

There is definite talk of Eric Bischoff being involved in the NWO angle very early on, and it's considered a virtual lock he'll be involved in it at some point within the next few months.

The line-up is not without controversy, as I detailed in my "BBL" editorial in this week's Torch Newsletter regarding Hall - controversy that could lead to the top matches being shuffled. Hall, though, has begun taking medication again that prohibits him from drinking at the same time without dire consequences. Hall has told WWF personnel he regrets his demeanor and conduct the first day he was around WWF wrestlers two weeks ago and doesn't plan to repeat it.

I wouldnt hold this with a grain of salt quite yet. Austin vs Hall makes absolutely no sense, and Xpac and Nash even make less sense together as a tag team against UT and Kane.

I would love to see Bischoff there, and i feel he HAS to be there for this whole thing to work even better than it will.

I just went on 1dipshit.com (Boy, for a guy who hates 1wrestling.com, I sure go there alot), and they had a recap of the WWF internet show "Byte This," where the Rock was being interviewed. Earlier in the interview, he had said that he is looking forward to the nWo coming in just because he feels the WWF would seem fresher with them around and he is looking forward to wrestling them, stating that he has already specifically talked to McMahon about a program with Hogan. Then, he said this:

quote:

Question: Main event of WrestleMania

Rock does not regret that he will not be in the main event. He has a feeling about what he will be doing at the show. Without giving it away, he thinks that it will be one of the biggest matches in the history of the WWF. Kevin added that from what he spoke about earlier (talking to Vince about a program wth Hulk Hogan), they can see what he is hinting with that. Rock has a feeling that this match will be bigger than the one against Steve Austin.

So, there seems to be at least a hint of clarification on the Hogan v. Rock rumor stated above.

That said, I tend to agree that Austin v. Hall seems weird. If they're going to do that, why not make Austin face Nash, who's more established (and more trustworthy to show up in the arena on a day like St. Patrick's Day)? Hall teaming up with X-pac would make more sense, and since Kane has nothing else to do, you might as well team him up with Taker for the 1,004th time. Hey, it's better than FIGHTING him for the 1,005th time!

Now, I hope if Eric comes back Hall does the Outsider edge to him, again. I hate Eric and hope he goes and ruins another company.

Damn it, why does the WWF have to bring the Rock into everything. I hope Taker/Rock continue their feud, because these guys are terrible, and Taker can't job a match without any outside interference even as a heel. The Rock just sucks and he hasn't wrestled a good match in his career. Angle beat HHH, and at Wrestlemania.com, they already posted up that it will be Angle vs. Y2J in the main event. With HBK returning on SmackDown at San Antonio, I would hope they could make a match featuring Austin/HHH/HBK vs. Hogan/Hall/Nash. This could set up HBK and HHH turning on Austin and joining the nWo.

Fuck the Islanders and the Rangers! Go Penguins!
