Bret Hart Turns Down Offer To Appear At WrestleMania Posted By Ashish on 03.02.02 Bret Hart has confirmed via his Calgary Sun column that the WWF contacted him this week to appear at WWF WrestleMania X-8. The WWF wanted Hart to be the special, unannounced guest ref for the Chris Jericho/HHH WWF Title match. In exchange for the appearance, the WWF offered Hart full control of all his video footage (which the WWF currently owns). Hart said that he did consider the offer, but eventually declined. The WWF then offered Hart a spot on the show where he would come out and "punch" Vince McMahon in the face. Again, Hart declined saying that he would not turn a real life situation into an angle. Interestingly enough, Hart also confirmed that he and Vince McMahon were supposed to have a meeting last May when RAW came to Calgary, however, Vince cancelled saying that he was too busy. Hart also claims that McMahon promised him control of his archives 2 and a half years ago at Owen's funeral, but now denies it.
