Now that it has finally come to be reality, what problems do you foresee as happening.

The first on that I see happening is that the title's that are fought for on both Raw/Smackdown will change hands a hell of a lot more often. If the rumors of seperate writing teams for each respected show are true, then the teams are going to fight over who is to be the champion and when and where they will win/lose it.

Another problem I see is the frequent jumping of superstars from Raw to Smackdown basically making the split pointless.

What do you think?

The obvious benefit of this is that now, some of the talent not used before will be used now. Linda only said that the world champs would be in both feds, but she said nothing about the other champs. What stops Vince from drafting all the champs and taking all of the titles? That will have to be answered.

I don't think it's going to be much of a problem. In fact, I came see some "interleague play" going on during WWF Heat. The main reason for the split is because Vince acquired a whole new companywith WCW, and only had the same amount of TV time to put them on. So in essence, he's creating two different brands so that more wrestlers have a chance to be on tv, instead of 2 tv programs with the same wrestlers. So in that regard, I dont think "jumping" would be seen by Vince to be a "problem" (especially if it peaks fan interest.)

I don't think that the real Vince would let that happen (unless he wants to make a storyline of one of the groups gaining respect). He's not going to do something on purpose to hurt the WWF just to make his character look better.

Come on, Vince has done plenty to make himself (and family members) look better at the expense of the company. It may not be his intention, but you can't deny it happens.

As for the split, I think there's two things they need to make absouletely sure to do, for it to be a success:

Attention to detail - One of the many things that lead to the demise of WCW, and has been killing the WWF product in the past year. The writers need to wake the fuck up already and realize that all the plot holes, cartoony gimmicks, and ridiculous angles are turning off viewers as much as anything. They need to present the illusion that there really is a split in the roster and that it's more than just another storyline. One of the reasons why the Invasion was doomed from the start, was because the illusion was never there that there was truly an invasion, it came off as just another storyline, and a very contrived and sloppy one at that.

Brand distinction - There needs to be something to distinguish one brand from the other. Whether it's the "wrestling show vs. sports entertainment show" that has been rumored (and I wouldn't hold my breath) or something different, both shows will need their own distinct personality. Otherwise, it will just be a split into two WWF's, at a time when the WWF that currently exists continues to lose viewers. They need to do something to bring back those lost viewers, and giving them two brands that they won't like isn't the answer. At its peak, wrestling was drawing a combined 10+ in the Monday night ratings. These days, they'll be lucky to get half that.

You know what, I think the biggest mistake they could make would be televising the draft live, or even letting the order of the picks be known at all. If anything, they should just say the draft was conducted, untelevised, earlier in the day, and just announce what the two rosters will be and build from there.

If they do televise it, or even just let the order of the picks be known, then that will just further bury mid and lower card wrestlers (because you just know a Rikishi would go before a Lance Storm, Test before Christian, etc.), and would just play into the hands of the backstage egomaniacs (no way would Undertaker accept a lower draft spot in favor of say RVD).

Just thinking out loud...

It's better to have the split than not have it. And what's wrong with having the title change on Raw or SmackDown? Wouldn't it be better if you weren't sure that the Champ would win? I find it gay when they put the title on the line when you know it won't change hands, unless something big will happen. I want the Title to be more like a Boxing Title where it can change hands at anytime. As for the split, already new stars are coming in: Lesnar, D'Lo might, Rey might, and maybe the guys on Metal might get a chance.

Actually, the champ gets to go wherever he wants, so he wont be drafted.

I think it would be cool to see the draft live to an extent (ie. first few rounds just to see their expressions as they draft), but they probably wont put them picking 30 rounds on. Maybe they'll just be in the boardroom and present the board members with their respective lists once it's over.

They'll probably split up the Hardy's in some way. I dont think any other teams would be broken up.

ferrett, they have to draft him. he will have to wrestle on both programs, but will end up going back to the one that drafted him after the title loss...otherwise you will have guys going where ever they want, whenever they want. if this is going to split the brand like they say it is, and a lot of us hope it is, he will get drafted like everyone else. I just don't see vince drafting him due to the steph situation, and him having a hard on for the rock.

and if they just show up and say, these are the guys you will see on raw, what good does linda's little speech hold? she said we would have a draft on raw, not some time during the day and we get screwed on raw.
but again, thats just my 1/2 cent

Here is a big update:Source: The Figure 4 Newsletter

-- The current plan for the two rosters is to mix them together fairly frequently rather than them being treated as two separate promotions. Although they will be on different shows, the fact that it is still the same company will not be lost sight of.

Good point Skitch, didn't think about that one. But it might make too much sense for the WWF to think of. I still dont think HHH will be drafted, but that's just a guess. Another option would be for the former champ to be placed into the camp of the guy who beat him.

I do not think the draft will be on tv tonight. I think they will say it was taped earlier. I also think Rhyno and Chris Benoit will be at raw as well as Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. I think Flair will go for more wrestler types, lightheavyweights, ecw wrestlers.

I also think Austin should go undrafted and if he does not show up tonight KEEP HIM OUT until Backlash and than have him start stunning people. Next night on Raw he shows up and cuts a huge promo and says he is a free agent and he will go wherever he damn well pleases and if he wants to show up at a show he will be there.

Regarding HHH, they MIGHT decide to have him go to the promotion that the guy who beat him was in to "take his spot on the roster" and do that with all the world champions (take the guy who beat him's spot). This would not necessitate HHH or Jazz being picked. I also read that neither HHH, Steph, or Jericho will be picked in the draft since any of the three could be undisputed champ theoretically at the end of the night. This indicates that the draft WILL go live and not be "done earlier today." What a crock of shit THAT would be if they did decide to announce it as happening earlier and telling us who goes where, though.

that would probably make the most sense, to have the champ just take the spot of whoever beat him. but who knows, guess we'll just have to wait and see
