Hey, I saw this on Lance Storm's official website written by Lance himself. Nothing earth shattering or anything, but I thought it was a good read and a cool perspective on how the split is affecting the wrestlers. He's usually got an interesting commentary up a couple times a month or so on stormwrestling.com, so I invite you to check it out:

Separation Anxiety

April 3,2002

The tail end of last week and certainly this week, the ramifications of the “Brand Extension” of the WWF are setting in. I don’t think any of us fully grasped the absoluteness of it all. Now that the line is drawn we are left looking across that line at friends/co-workers (Our second families). Last week felt very much like the last day of school when you were saying your last goodbyes before leaving for the summer, except we don’t know how long this summer will be, it very well could be permanent.

It took so long to set in that I didn’t even think of saying goodbye to anyone after SmackDown on Tuesday. We had house shows Wed. & Thurs. and I never really thought about it. It wasn’t until the last house show in Jacksonville (Thursday) that I realized that I wouldn’t be seeing the RAW guys this week. Kane was one of the only RAW guys on the Florida house shows so he was one of the only people I got to say goodbye to. I may not have even thought to say goodbye to him if Jericho hadn’t brought it to my attention.

Jericho and Kane are good friends and as a last farewell Jericho (completely unannounced or preplanned) ran in on Kane’s match in Jacksonville. Kane was in the Main Event with Kurt Angle and just after the finish Chris hit the ring and was met with one last Choke Slam from the Big Red Machine. They hit the locker room laughing and joking but in spite of the laughter it was a sad time. Our family has being cut in half. I don’t know when I will be seeing guys like Kane, Justin, The Hardys, Lita, or Ric Flair again. Well I guess that isn’t completely true, for now anyway, I will see them one Sunday a month for PPVs. One day a month isn’t much when you are used to seeing them 4 days a week. I see most of these guys more than I do my wife and kids, so all of a sudden, only seeing them once a month is going to be a big adjustment.

Personal issues aside, this is a job and I think this will be good for all of our careers, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Even ignoring friendships, travel partners are at stake. I’m really fortunate in that I’ve been traveling with Edge and or Christian, of late, so my travel plans don’t need to change but there are some guys (Kane for example) whose regular travel partner for the last 5 years in on the other side of the division and they will have to start all over with new travel partners. Good travel partners are hard to come by and starting over is a big deal. When you travel as much as we do it’s hard to find someone you’re compatible with. Between the aches and pains of wrestling and the trials and tribulations of traveling, which I often go on about in commentaries, it’s hard to find people you can put up with, or more appropriately, can put up with you, over the long haul.

Hardships are nothing new to any of us, we’ve been paying dues since the day we broke in and we will continue to do so. We are professionals and will rise above it. The one saving grace is that whenever you and a friend go your separate paths, in this business, your paths always find a way to cross again down the road. It’s been my experience that whether it be a month, a year, or 10 years, the boys always manage to pick right back up where they left off. Jericho and I have had our paths part and converge 5 or 6 times over our 12-year career and we have always remained friends. I don’t see why the same won’t be true of those whom I am parting paths with now!

Best of luck everyone! I look forward to our paths crossing in the future.
Lance
