- Reader James Portillo sent in this recap of Goldberg on ESPN radio. I believe this is where it was first confirmed that Goldberg accepted a buyout of his Time-Warner contract:

Thursday afternoon, Goldberg talked on the Mcdonall-Douglass show on ESPN Radio 1110 in Southern California. Goldberg confirmed the stories and announced his free agent status. He said although he is not leaning toward the WWF, he is keeping his options open and will continue to do charity work with kids and pursue acting roles. He said that he has no personal bad feelings with Vince, he just doesn't like his product. Goldberg confirmed he got over 90% of his contract in his buyout and would now concentrate on healing his broken arm. Goldberg stated his interest in wrestling The Rock and HHH by name, and said he would wrestle at some point for sure, he's just unsure of where or when that will come about. This was his first pubilic comments concering the buyout.

- Also on a bit of an update on Goldberg, it is being reported that Goldberg actually finalized his buyout on Monday or Tuesday and it was actually Time Warner/AOL that pushed for the buyout since Goldberg was the last remaining wrestler they had under contract. Additionally and as Goldberg mentioned on the radio (stated above), he received almost a 100% payout from his contract.

On the Bill Goldberg front, we'll have more on that later but as of yesterday, negotiations seemed to be more in the direction of New Japan, or possibly even Pride, than WWF. It's hard to believe that at some point he and WWF won't be working together because it's still the option that, done correctly (very important point) makes the most money for him and because they've got the machinery for it, makes more money for WWF than it could for the other two groups. Plus, for outside projects, you can be a superstar in Japan and nobody knows you exist in the U.S., but being a superstar who has the ability to get mainstream media attention more than anyone besides Rock in pro wrestling today, opens many outside doors. Done correctly for them, it's guaranteed great short-term money. Long-term depends on many different factors on both sides but if there isn't a well thought out plan executed right, it can easily be blown.
