Damn, i wish that this guy would come with WWF, but hey, you have to respect the man. He never wanted to sell out and join Vince McMahon, a man he hates, and the WWF, "sports entertainment" that he cant stand. MLW is nothing special, but hey, with Styles announcing, he can make the wrestlers look better in the ring. Anyway, here's the press release: (courtesy of 411wrestling.com)

In what is a huge coup, Major League Wrestling has done what the WWE could not do - sign Joey Styles to a deal. Styles will do the play-by-play on MLW's video releases, starting with their inaugural show on June 15th.

In a press release Wednesday, Styles said, "Almost one year ago, I turned down an employment offer from WWE, retired from the professional wrestling industry and resumed my advertising sales and marketing career. Since then, I have been made many offers to appear at regional live wrestling events and voice over wrestling videos. After due consideration, I declined these offers because I felt that calling any product that was not the quality of ECW, would somehow cheapen the seven plus years I spent as the voice of that revolutionary and now defunct promotion.

With that said, I am very excited to be calling the video release of MLW Genesis. A tournament of this magnitude from the ECW Arena featuring four former ECW World Champions and four great wrestlers who are more than worthy of wearing gold, should have an announcer who will treat their efforts with the respect they deserve. Therefore, I am happy to be reprising my role as a professional wrestling (not sports entertainment) announcer for Major League Wrestling."

This is a major draw for MLW in the sense of showing they are trying to be a legitimate contender. This whole MLW deal is going under the radar a bit, but could be something to watch in the future. Their June 15th show is in South Philly and their site is www.mlw.com.

Hmm, I'd have to disagree. Their first show has Steve Corino, Shane Douglas, Jerry Lynn, Bam Bam Bigelow, Christopher Daniels, La Parka~!, and TAIYO KEA~!

Excellent lineup, better than WWF. I should be there.

Let me clarify that, the talent is nice in MLW, but the popularity and actual productivity of MLW is nothing special. Thus then, MLW in general has to be considered nothing special, so far. That can change though.

Hell, beats him wearing a dopey sweater and doing info-mercials. I saw him do one for coins, I believe.

Anyway, this MLW sounds alright. Like it was said, nothing special. I never saw the attraction for Steve Corino and Shane Douglas is damaged goods at this point in his career. I like Jerry Lynn though. Always thought the WWF really dropped the ball with him.

I hope this fed last more then a couple of shows.
MLW is hoping to bring the wrestling back into pro-wrestling (like we havent heard that before), its a huge long shot but i hope they do...
Bringing in Styles was the first big step, unlike the current wwE announcers Styles can actually call match hold by hold. Plus Styles has made an art out of cutting promos.
Their opening roster alone got my attention. Jerry Lynn, Steve Corino, Taiyo, and Chris Daniels are all Main Event quality and they are all capable of putting on a great match. Its a shame what WCW did to LA Parka's name in our country, he's could be main event guy too if MLW lets him bring it.
With the roster talent and the best play by play guy out there MLW just needs a T.V. deal;
well that and Gertner and/or Don Callis on the color commentating.

MLW championship tournament 1st round
Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Taiyo Kea
Jerry Lynn vs. La Parka
Shane Douglas vs. Steve Corino
Chris Daniels vs. A wild card seed
The wild card is probably going to be one of their rookies or a second chance for an earlier eliminated wrestler. I dont wanna speculate but it would be a good move to bring in another well known star. Corino could bring in CW Anderson or even better Masato Tanaka from Zero One.
Who whould you bring in?

MLW has brought in Vampiro, which is fucking awsome being that Vampiro rules. He signed on to be the wild card facing Daniels in what should be a hell of a match.

Another match has been added Devon Storm (Crowbar), Rising Son, and Anubi vs. Super Hentai, Prince Nana, and Ultra Taro Jr. this match should be done in some Lucha form.
Why is'nt this a payperview, I would actually pay $9.99 or $21.99.
I really dont feel like traveling To Philly, hopefully i'll get my hands on a tape of this one.
