"Steve Austin left RAW tonight when he found out that he would facing "the next big thing" Brock Lesnar on tonight's show according to 1wrestling. It is unclear as to who was planned to go over in the match, but apparently Austin became very upset with the direction that they have been heading and were taking his character.
Austin chose to book a flight back to Texas and left Atlanta, therefore not appearing on RAW.
Lesnar will now face Bubbah Ray Dudley on tonight's RAW. It has already been documented that Austin was very upset with the direction they have been taking his character and the company's direction as a whole.

This situation arose when Austin became very upset when no one chose to tell him what he would be doing on RAW until yesterday when Jim Ross phoned him. Both Vince McMahon and Brian Gerwetz had not spoken with Austin about the show or his upcoming match with Lesnar. Although still unclear, many believe that Lesnar may have been put over Austin in some fashion which may have really upset Austin."

I can understand not wanting to face Scott Hall, but now Austin's being a baby about the whole thing. Yeah, I know the product sucks right now, but still.

Ok, enough of this guy. Does the WWF really need this guy? Its obvious that the WWF wants to go in a new direction, and i think they should. The old "WWF Attitude" is stale and old news. Let Austin have fun in the NWATNA.

Thanks to Austin for the pic

Oh I'm sure about that. You'd have to imagine that there would be serious ramifications from Austin ditching Raw during a major storyline between Flair and his "Horsemen". Question is, will Vince really fire Austin or will things be business as usual.

I'm also wondering if Brock took Austin's spot in the run-in during the Vince/Flair match.

If this is true, Austin needs to grow the fuck up.

Reguardless of what he thinks of the product, he still draws a check from the WW_. They pay him, so he should shut up and work whatever storyline they are sticking him in.

It's unfair to all of those who wrestled him on the way up and sacraficed to elevate him, rather than thier own egos.

Shit, HBK knew he had to have back surgery before Wrestlemania and still went there and wrestled so he could drop the belt to Austin. Why? because it made Austin's character more credible than if he had won it in some tournament or some battle royal.

Besides, Eddie lost to RVD tonite so that he can fued with Austin. While WWF booking kinda sucks right now, what more could Austin want than to wrestle Eddie in a program?

Finally, I could understand a young guy in wrestling being concerned with the direction of his character. His financial future is affected by it through merchandise sales, and how much he can draw.

Austin is close to retirement and has made a ton of money. He should take a clue from another guy everyone is so quick to bash. Say what you will, but Hogan seems perfectly content to be elevating younger talent at this point.

Austin should be doing the same.

The queer duality of wrestling fans...When Austin refuses to do what the bosses tell him, he is a jackass, when Bret Hart refuses to do what they tell him, he is a hero and a real man for "sticking it to Vince"....I can see Austin's point, to a degree...Voice your disaproval, say you are against it, but still do your job in the end....Who will the wwf be more likely to listen to? Someone who storms off at the first sight of something he does'nt like, or the guy who voices his opinions, but despite that still does what might be best for the company?

Hart was wrong to not want to drop the belt before leaving too.

I shall now quote Scott Keith. He doesn't have the best reputation in the internet smart fan community, but his thoughts upon Steve Austin are my thoughts upon Steve Austin.

quote:

Get out, Steve. Get out while you can and stay out. Put your millions of dollars into a nice long-term investment plan, buy a house somewhere comfortable, and get out now while you’re still able to walk on your own two feet and still in control of your own career. Be unprofessional, be selfish, bite the hand that feeds you, let down the fans. I don’t care. I’m one of your biggest fans and you won’t let me down at all, because I can what’s coming if you stay, and it’s gonna be “Vince McMahon makes Steve Austin into the biggest martyr since Bret Hart”, and I don’t want to see that. I’ve already had one hero destroyed by a failing company, I don’t need another one. I don’t want another Dynamite Kid, a guy hanging on so long past his physical prime that he’s in a wheelchair and forgotten. I have tapes, I have memories. Find what makes you happy and do it, because obviously this company is no longer that thing, and I’d rather live without Austin than live with an unmotivated Austin. It was a good run, a great run, the best run…but it’s over, and I don’t want to be watching a humilated Rattlesnake in the midcard, fighting hasbeens and neverweres and waiting for the writers to come up with something good again. Because they won’t. And I can’t help but feel if you come back, we’ll all just be disappointed all over again. Or worse, we’ll be talking about where we were the day that Steve Austin got screwed.

Amen. I don't want Austin to be screwed and destroyed by Vince as well.

Shit, HBK knew he had to have back surgery before Wrestlemania and still went there and wrestled so he could drop the belt to Austin. Why? because it made Austin's character more credible than if he had won it in some tournament or some battle royal.

Don't EVER talk about Michaels being an unselfish soul, cause it's just a goddamn lie.

I wish AIDS upon all of you fuckers who complain about Bret not wanting to drop the title. Why? Cause you all conveniently forget the fact that your hero, HBK, FAKED A FUCKING INJURY (on NUMEROUS occasions) to get out of jobbing the title, specifically to Bret Hart. He pretended to be injured, gave a bullshit "I've lost my smile" speech, and refused to job to Bret. And you assholes have the balls to complain that Bret didn't do "what was right for the company" by not wanting to job the title to Shawn in Canada. Fuck you all.

God forbid we have people who do what the company wants them to do....Bret's fucking enormous ego is what caused his downfall....You want to see a man who is respected by the industry? Look no further than Mick Foley, the man did what was best for the company, not what was best for him, more people should live by his example.
