Well, i watched the show a little while ago for the first time ever, and i must say, i like the format of the show. All 3 features done were well done. The Kurt Angle spot where they showed just how much he trained for the Olympics was amazing. Kurt really is THE MAN.

Also, it was great to see Bobby Heenan again, however it was very upsetting to hear his voice like that. But, hes still in his same good spirits. Good job by the WWF to put together a group of highlights of Bobby's entire career, including his hilarious comedy act. I had no clue that Heenan was voted as the manager on the 1988 All-Madden Team, that was cool to know.

And of course, the Austin thing. This is definitely a shoot IMO. Vince McMahon even took part of the blame for Austin being unhappy because of the lack of creativity shown with Austin's character as of late. But, i dont blame McMahon at all for not allowing Austin back. Austin screwed everyone, and did so by not being a man about it.

Overall, great show, nice to see Mean Gene back on his feet doing something good for the WWF. Im sure the ratings were the highest theyve been for this show.

Thanks to Austin for the pic

Cluster F, I totally gotta agree with you. This is the 2nd one I've watched, and I loved both shows. The Brain piece was a bit tough to watch with his voice, quite frankly, butt it was great. The line where he was interviewing a fan and asked him, "How long have you been married?"

"21 years."

"You realize if you killed her on your honeymoon, you'd have been out by now?"

had me rolling on the floor.

And, the Austin stuff was insightful, and I think JR and Vince have to be commended for not taking too many cheap shots at him and the like. With the Debra story breaking out (it's on another thread), I don't think much sympathy will be garnered for Mr. Williams any time soon.

I gotta agre with you guys, it was a great show last night. Let's only hope that Gene has proven himself enough to be brought in for PPV's to do backstage interviews. He has stated that he doesn't want to travel as much, but I'm sure doing PPV's once a month would not be a problem for him.

As far as Austin goes?

JR and Vince hit the issue right on the head last night. If you owned any biz, and you had an employee who just didn't show up for work because they were upset would you even give them a second chance?

NO

They not only gave him a second chance, but did not suspend him for what he did. How does he return the favor? He walks again. How the fuck do you trust him not to do the same again? You can't.

All the Austin fans can scream all they want about him having the right to be pissed off and walk.

They are wrong.

He has every right to voice his displeasures with management. He does not have the right to just not show up for work and expect no repercussions.

Besides, for all of this pouting, he still was going to get the fued with Eddie.(the one he asked management for, BTW) The WWF had him losing to Brock the same night Eddie was eliminated from KOTR. So he had to wait one week for the fued to build. Big deal.

How long did Eddie have to wait to wrestle a guy that was considered a main eventer? (Yes some of the guys he wrestled are now considered main eventers, but when he wrestled them, they were midcarders at most)

Hopefully, they do this as well as they did those segments last night. DDP deserves a tribute and it would be interesting to hear him talk about his whole career.

Rev. Impactplayer,

DDP may not have been a main eventer of the callibur of Austin or HHH, or a techinical favorite of likes of those guys Sir O. is always listing. That much is true.

Still, he was a guy who held the WCW title, as well as pretty much every other title. From everything I have ever read or heard about the guy, he was a down to earth wrestling fanatic, who lived for the biz he loved, and always gave 100%.

In an era where you have guys like Goldberg who were only in it for the money, Hogan who always tried to flaunt his creative control, ect... there was DDP. The guy simply worked his ass off in the ring, and did not mind selling for anyone or doing the job to anyone if it meant they got over.

Tie all of this in with his charity work, how could you not do a show or at least a segment on his retirement?
