Hey, how's everyone? I've been lurking on this site for about a week, and it's cool to find people who share the same interests as I do (O&A, wrestling, teabagging)...

Anyway, I was just curious, is anyone else here into puroresu? Most of you seem to be up on the "inside" info regarding wrestling, but I haven't seen any discussions regarding puro, or even lucha and indies for that matter? If you haven't seen anything outside the former big-3, I encourage you to seek out some tapes, as some of the stuff you'll find in Japan, Mexico, or in high school gyms, often eclipses the WWF in terms of wrestling ability, story telling, and sheer FUCKIN VIOLENCE!! Ever seen a tombstone through flourescent light-tubes??

Anyway, don't tool me too hard, I'm still new here...

FMW death matches have to be the sickest shit I've ever seen. There was an electrified barbed wire retirement match between 2 chicks that actually disturbed me...when they start bringing out the sickles and knives though, that goes too far...

XPW isn't bad but the announcers are too f'n annoying & a lot of their wrestlers are has-beens or never-was's

I've heard CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling) is completely insane, they even have a junior division with kids still in high school. Someone on 1wrestling.com always writes columns about it and gives lots of background...I think they're nearby in Pennsylvania or Delaware

I try to pick up a tape from Japan or Mexico every few months. Mostly older stuff though like Lyger, Sasuki, or Ultimo tapes. I have a few from Mexico as well. If you have any suggestions I'd like to hear them, it's about time for me to pick up a few new tapes anyway.

Yeah i agree spitfire I saw one match in CZW that was a barb wire wrapped table match that had flouresant light bulbs wrapped in the barb wire. I also saw a match in which one guy was duct taped to the ring post shirtless and ran over with a weed eater than covered in gasaline and set on fire. He was put out quickly but damn that was some sick shit.

I have seen some crazy matches also. Matches where in the middle of the ring was a tank filled with scorpions and the idea was to stuff your opponent into the tank. Japan has some crazy matches. Exploding ring death matches, 1,000 thumbtack matches, but none more crazier than the old Terry Funk and Cactus Jack matches in Japan.

I have seen some really sick matches from Japan. I've seen barbed wire matches, the exploding cage, and ones where they use weapons like knives, tacs, flaming tables, etc. It's the craziest crap that i've ever seen.

I believe you're talking about Megumi Kudoh vs. Combat Toyoda from FMW. That was one of the sickest matches I've ever seen.

And regarding CZW, I've been to their last few shows, and the deathmatches they do are even sicker than anything I've seen from Japan. Weedwhackers, candle wax, barbed wire, broken glass...I love violence as much as anyone, but these guys take shit a little too far, IMO.

Sure, I can make some suggestions. If you don't have J Cup '94 and '95, get them NOW. Every wrestling fan should be strapped to a chair and forced to watch these shows, they're that good. Basically, you can't go wrong with any New Japan juniors stuff between 93 and 96.

Also, I'd highly recommend All Japan Women Dreamslam 1 and 2. I'd say that Dreamslam 1 is the best overall wrestling card ever, with an amazing match between Akira Hokuto and Shinobu Kandori that is brutal and beautiful at the same time.

For All Japan men's, get anything and everything with Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, Steve Williams, and Stan Hansen. Two must-have matches are Misawa vs. Kawada from 6/3/94 and Misawa/Kobashi vs. Kawada/Taue from 6/9/95.

Other things: any Big Japan TV from 99 and 00 (awesome death matches, definately check out the Honma vs. Yamakawa matches from 6/20/99 and 1/2/00)

any Toryumon TV (the guy to watch for is Minoru Tanaka, he's the next great junior)

any Michinoku Pro (more junior action, their 3rd Anniversary show from 10/10/96 has an incredible 10 man tag)

I could keep going and going, but I probably gave you more info than you needed anyway...

It looks like the guy that was taking it (one of the Dupps) thought HHH was going for a butterfly suplex, so he swung his legs in the air, instead of just taking the flat bump that people normally do for the pedigree.

wow, WBK, that is pretty awesome posting a move called the Dangerous Driver on the thread. The only time other than your post and the video games that I have seen that move performed was when Scott Steiner gave it to Scott Hall back in like 96 or so I think.(please don't hold me to that) It was a tag team match between the Steiners and the Outsiders. It was an awesome move to behold. thanks for bringing back some cool memories WBK:)
