According to Wade Keller of the Torch, it looks as if the WWF is planning, since they couldn't get a time slot for WCW, to turn Raw into the WCW program and then run Smackdown! as a WWF program live on Thursdays (or perhaps even a new night) on UPN.

The plan is for "Monday nights" to be on the line in the tag match at Invasion, which, I assume, WCW would win in order to get the "Monday Night Wars". This will mean the WWF would go back to the (much better) schedule of ONE two-hour show a week, and WCW would have their own two-hour show and, more importantly, stop the over saturation that's probably cost them ratings more than anything. Also, Heat is expected to improve since it's now the No. 2 show, so some things might ACTUALLY happen there.

It is expected, especially to keep the WWF viewers on Monday, that alot of big-name WWF wrestlers will move to WCW. HHH was supposed to be one of them, but he got injured, and now it looks like Kurt Angle, and maybe even Undertaker among others, could head to WCW.

Of course, this is all rumor still, though it comes from a reliable source (the Torch) and if it's true, I think this might be the best they could do. It stops the over saturation of the WWF, gets WCW a hell of a better timeslot than late Saturday nights, and gets TNN right in the ass, cuz I'm sure Vince wasn't happy they didn't give WCW a slot. TNN can't stop the WWF from changing Raw to a WCW program because "the WWF is still providing the programming." HA!

I would be jonesing for action if that were the case. They can get ratings whenever they are on, so they have to decide what their priorities are.

RAW Moving To Thursday Night's, Nitro On TNN Monday's

Written by Fred Cook on June 22, 2001
Sources are saying that there is strong consideration being given to the idea of turning over Raw's timeslot to WCW. Additional plans call for Smackdown to become a live show while remaining on Thursday nights.

As of Monday afternoon, having already made plans to put the Tag Titles on the Dudley’s at Smackdown, there was talk of having the new champs defend the titles at The King of The Ring. At the time, the plan was for Spike Dudley to be one of the challengers, but no decision on his partner has been finalized.

You could always not read the spoilers...
Anyway.. I think that WWF would be better suited keeping Raw on on Monday, finding a home for WCW on Wednesday, simplifying their travel arrangements... TV on Mon, Tue, Wed, dark the rest...

killjoy, that's the problem! They can't get a slot on TNN or any Viacom network, so they'll have to give WCW one of their shows. I mean, they wouldn't give them LATE SATURDAY NIGHT, you think they'll give them Wednesday night at prime time (which the WWF was rumored to have been initially looking at when they first bought WCW)?

And of the two shows that people would watch (if they gave Sunday Night Heat or any other shows, it would have set WCW up for failure, especially if it was a one hour program), Raw makes most sense because less people watch it than Smackdown! (according to the ratings) and WCW fans (if they're still around after 3-4 months of nothing) are trained to watch Monday night wrestling anyway.

I still think that the 4 hours is too much, so only 2 hours of WWF will make for a little better program, not to say the product is bad now, because it kicks ass, but I guess I'm alone here! Besides, I'll watch the new WCW now, whch is what they're even more concerned with, anyway.

They also don't have to worry about the travel schedule being Monday, day off, day off, Thursday, since it will be different crews working for both federations, killjoy. This was the reason Smackdown would be taped Tuesday, so that the wrestlers don't complain, but now the wrestlers will only work either Monday or Thursday, depending which federation they're in, so they're not concerned about that anymore. The only people this affects are th e Vince McMahon types, who made the decision in the first place.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO!

I think using WWF tv time for WCW would be a bad idea, some people can't always catch both shows and one usually helps keep those people clued in to what's going on. I think ratings would slowly decline because of this, because some fans would find themselves lost and they'd switch channels. That's just my opinion though.

Why would Viacom (Owner of TNN) allow the WWF change their show to a WCW show. TNN has a contract with the WWF for a WWF show, not a WCW show. TNN won't allow this one bit.

How 'bout 'em apples???

TNN has no say. Vince McMahon is required to put on a wrestling show on Monday nights from 9-11. He is doing that. He owns WCW and can do whatever the hell he wants.

TNN tried fucking Vinny Mac right in the ass by not gving him a timeslot, so he has to do what is best for his product and his investment. WWF live on free tv will get the best ratings for him and WCW will get a primetime slot to get viewers intersted. It is all but definte that stars like Kurt Angle are going to WCW, as well as lesser stars, so fans will watch because they know it is the WWF product just with different wrestlers.

Fuck TNN. I guess they would rather have those Miami Vice and Dukes of Hazzard shows in Primetime than WCW.
