From ChartAttack.com:

Our Lady Peace Tag Team With Chris Benoit

OLP vs Chris Benoit

For a few days now, there's been this wild rumor circulating: that Can-Rock demi-gods Our Lady Peace would be putting together a theme song for Can-Wrestling god, Chris Benoit.

Benoit, Master of Rolling German Suplexes, Crossfaces and Headbutts of Death, isn't scheduled to return to the ring until early next year, so at first ChartAttack suspected this was nothing more than wishful thinking. Earlier this month, the Greatest Wrestler Who Ever Lived underwent surgery to repair a blocked nerve in his C7 vertebrae, surgery that would have no doubt killed an ordinary man.

Besides, it seemed a bit ludicrous to expect a band with numerous commercial hits and critical accolades, who are standing on the cusp of continental superstardom, to take time out from a busy schedule to supply music for the WWF. And, to make matters even more implausible, only a few of the wrestling news sites (usually quick to jump all over anything that smacks of mainstream wrestling acceptance) were reporting the gossip.

So, for a lark, ChartAttack contacted our friends at Sony Music Canada to quash the rumors once and for all.

Except it's not a rumor: Raine and the rest of the Ladies Peace will in fact be bestowing upon the Canadian Crippler use of their new song, "Whatever" for his dramatic stroll to ringside.

Although we at ChartAttack haven't heard the song yet (it's fairly safe to assume it ain't a ballad), thousands of Americans already have; OLP's been previewing it at live shows south of the border. Man, I hope there's some heavy guitar in it.

Our Lady Peace is far from the first band to do music for the WWF: Disturbed was commissioned to do Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme, while Motorhead escorts Triple H ringside and that guy from Naughty By Nature contributes to the sweet "Here Comes The Money" song that the no-good Shane McMahon uses.

Thus far, all we know is that the WWF will have the OLP song along with a Disturbed track and fare from such adult contemporary favourites as Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit and Slayer on their forthcoming soundtrack compilation in the fall. ChartAttack is holding its breath in hopes Danko Jones will contribute new music for The Rock. Think about it: "If you're gonna Rock/You gotta Rock shit hot!" while The Rock storms the ring…

I really don't care about who does it, but:

I see there being a real problem with theme music currently. Theme music should make the crowd react as soon as it hits. But soo many guys now have music that sounds exactly the same. At least
Benoit had music that you could recognize immediately.

Maybe they'll play it at their show on Monday at the Vanderbilt.

My question is why would anyone be doing new music for Benoit if it's a possibility he won't be back for up to a year?

"What are you speaking, German Brian?"

"Brian, what the hell are you talking about?"

Man, do I want to move to Canada...they're all so positive up there! "The greatest wrestler who ever lived".....I agree Benoit is one of the most talented wrestlers I've ever seen, and without a doubt one of my personal favorites, but they make such definitive statements it makes me giggle. Our Lady Peace, "Can-rock Demigods"....those Canids are so cute! I saw them open for Van Halen 5 or 6 years ago....they were terrible, and since then I've barely heard a peep out of them. The Canadians must hold Bryan Adams in the same regard as the rest of the English speaking world holds Frank Sinatra....too funny.

How would you feel about life...if Death was your sister?
