I know this seems like a rumor, but Dave Scherer is usually right on the mark with this stuff. Also, this could quell all the Rock rumors for invasion.

ROCK RETURN UPDATE

by Dave Scherer

The tentative return date for the Rock right now is the July 30 Raw in Philadelphia, PA. As of right now, a few sources have told me that he is not scheduled to be at the PPV or next week's television. Of course, that could always change. Rock will be prominently featured on the SummerSlam PPV next month.

Dave Scherer has been wrong many times as well. Even with the internet, the WWF has still surprised us. Think ECW reforming as teh best example. No one saw that coming.

If it is only 10 days from now, why couldn't he show up for the PPV.

Very true TeenWeek. Personally, it would only make sense for him to show up at invasion, or Raw the next night. I dont know why he would have to wait for the 30th.

And it is true that the internet gives false leads so that fans feel like they know what the inside scoop is, but I believe that Scherer is one of the exceptions. He doesnt make stuff up, he just goes by what he hears from the inside. Sometimes its wrong and sometimes its not.

The ECW reunion--- Somebody on the internet knew about it, just did not want to give it away. If I remember, it was posted on this very board, as a "We're not gonna tell you, just watch and be amazed" or something like that.
As for the Internet in general, I believe that Vince plants these things for two reasons.
1. To make everyone think they know what is going to happen, then swerve them
2. To find the leak

Me being an old timer, and a former huge fan of the great giant himself, I kind of like The Big Slow because he reminds me alot of Andre. I could understand how some of you younger wrestling fans may not like him but IMO he should be at Main Event Status...if only he was alittle better on the mic and knew how to capture the audience.

Back to topic.....Please, I am begging, do not ruin this PPV by having the Rock in it. The Rock also remind me of an old timer wrestling...Brutus Beefcake.

The Rock will not be in the upcoming pay-per-view. He's coming back at the end of the summer. Him and Stone Cold are going to have a feud because Stone Cold is going to side with the WCW.

Dude...Show wasn't even at main-event status when he was the fuckin CHAMPION. In fact, I think Show will go down in the annals of WWF history as the "midcard champ."

Where to begin, where to begin....

Since the topic is little Rocky, we'll go with that...I personally couldn't give two shits if the Rock never came back...he is a glorified midcarder if ever there was one...he is a puncher, his matches are predictable, and, quite frankly, he pretty much sucks...he is also a taker...WMX-7 was one of the first times I really saw him GIVE any opponent (anyone remember the overexcessive chairshots to Mankind at the Rumble '99?) His character is obnoxious, which is okay, but his finisher, the People's Elbow, is the saddest thing this side of big boot-legdrop...to quote Billy & Paul, "Rock's a pussy, the Rock's a pussy"...

Now, The Big Slow...could he possibly suck enough? I don't think so...fact is this, 450 lb. wrestlers are almost useless, because generally, they can't work with everyone...case in point, Jeff Hardy vs. Big Show, where they counted a pin on Show after Matt & Lita interfered...I mean, c'mon! Big guys that big have to destroy everything, and if they don't they're underachievers...you never saw Andre have problems with, say, Tito Santana, right? No, he'd need a Killer Khan or John Studd to take him down...I'm just waiting for Kidman's pinfall victory over Show so he can go back to OVW and stay the hell out of WWF rings...

SEEYA!

I didn't notice the Austin turn part before....

I'm also assuming Austin will go WECW tonight...Vince wants the Rock, so Austin will be left to help make that situation work...

As for the angle side....how easy did Austin get through the crowd trying to get Debra back? It all seems like too much of a plan... I actually smelled this one out before I saw it on websites, so take it for what it's worth...Austin, YOUR new WCW champ? Could be, rabbit, could be...

think you guys are reading way too much into this. it could happen but i seriously doubt austin will turn wecw. and the whole thing about him going through the crowd too quick to get to debra...can you just say bad acting? only reason i think there's a chance he might actually turn is cause i think they still want him as a heel and what better way to keep him a big time heel then screw over the wwf tonight.

it says in this months WWF magazine that a big name will be going to WCW and i first thought it would be austin or jericho. but there have been loads of rumours (in england) that Rock will come back tonight and be pissed off at WWF coz Vince suspended him and he will go to WCW. this will lead to bigger fan support for WCW and a nice money-making feud with Austin (like we've not seen that before!!!) leading up to SummerSlam.

but i don't think thats gonna happen. but it might. i don't know.

The Rock pops the crowd bottom line. He doesn't have the wrestling skills of guys like Benoit, Malenko, etc but he doesn't have to. But come on people he isn't Hulk Hogan either. The WWF needs him to come back to increase interest. As for the People's Elbow. Is it a weak finisher? Uh yeah, that's obvious. But once again, the crowd pops huge for it so it got to the point where they were anticipating that more than the Rock Bottom. Plus, it's easier for him to go Rock Bottom/People's Elbow than vice versa.

It's obvious he will be back within two weeks or so to hype Summerslam. If he comes back tonight it will be to turn on the WWF since WCW/ECW needs to win the main event. I don't see the Rock being the reason though. My hunch has been for a bit now that it will be Austin. He has motivation since Vince didn't appreciate his friendship and was just using him in his war against WCW. Plus Austin has been in both ECW and WCW. Hell, he can even cut a nasty promo on the previous ownership and how that has improved (anytime you can take shots at Bischoff I'm all for it). Then Vince will need someone to get revenge on Austin and he will publicly beg the Rock to show up and help him out. This can drag out a few shows until the inevitable return of "The Great One".

The only negative that I still see in this is it sort of delutes the impact of some of the other WCW/ECW guys by having Austin there. Most notably Booker T. We will see how it turns out though.
