Ive been waiting for this match for a long time. They both work so well with each other, im sure tonight will be a great match (not one of their best because its HEAT, but they'll do their spots). I dont watch HEAT very often, but you can bet that i'll be watching tonight. Im an RVD fan, but i still hope that this will propel Jerry Lynn onto RAW and Smackdown TV slots now and get the respect he deserves.

just finished watching that match...goddamn that was some good shit by both wrestlers. They put on a show as usual, a great back and forth match. I hope Vince was watching that cause Jerry Lynn has some serious talent. I wish that he tried the cradle piledriver on RVD, but oh well...still a great match, and a great victory by RVD.

If RVD keeps up this pace, he'll most definitely be at upper midcard to main event status in no time. Let's just hope the injury bug doesn't hit him like it has so many other top WWF stars (i.e. Undertaker, Austin, HHH, & Benoit).

Shit, I didn't see the match. Thank God they air it at 11pm so late assholes like me can watch something as great as an RVD vs. Jerry Lynn match.

I'm just in shock about how over RVD is already. Not everyone was able to see him in ECW so either they really like him or are just lemmings since they heard about him in ECW and how cool he is. And yes, I know they are going to the canned heat/pops recently but just by looking around at the crowd you could tell they were digging it. Even the worst RVD spotfest is better than most of the crap they show on Heat. Please someone just get rid of Perry Saturn. He's more orange than Hogan.

now im pissed, i just read 1wrestling.com...and it turns out the match was fucking edited!!!!! Thye edited out a sunset flip powerbomb by Lynn on RVD.

*EDIT* RVD VS. LYNN ON HEAT: NOT THE WHOLE F'N MATCH?

by Buck Woodward Updated: 8/6/2001 12:16:50 AM

After tonight's edition of Heat, I received an email from a fan who said that he had attended the taping live, and that the Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn match was edited. He specifically said that a sunsetflip style powerbomb spot was cut out.

I taped the replay of Heat, and watched the bout again, and there was definitely an edit made in the match. At the point that Jerry Lynn hits the German suplex and bridges up for the pin, Van Dam kicks out, and the camera angle changes from the wide shot to a side view. The camera then returns to the wide shot.

The edit was practically perfect, except that the chair that was laying in the ring "moved" into a totally different part of the ring. Also, Lynn and Van Dam's bodies landed in a different position from where they were falling as the kickout began.

It is obvious on watching it again that the side shot of the kickout is from a different spot in the bout, and that the match, which got rave reviews from both fans and people in the WWF at the time it happened, was edited.

The match alone was definately worth suffering through the rest of Heat.

As for the match being edited: My guess is that they needed some extra time to run the Crocks shitty promo and thats where they gained their extra time at.

Im pissed now...according to 1wrestling.com, the actual match was over 10 minutes long, whereas HEAT showed 6 minutes of it, the stuff edited out was:

quote:

Also, three specific sequences were edited out:

- A sunsetflip into a powerbomb on the floor by Lynn.
- A tornado DDT reversal into a Northern Lights Suplex by Van Dam.
- A Van Daminator reversal sequence that ended with a legdrop on a chair.

All of that was removed from a match that many fans are still referring to as the best match to ever air on Heat.

However, if you know someone in the UK who tapes Heat, you may be in luck. I received several emails from fans overseas who said that their version of Heat (which does not include the live WWF NY segments) aired the complete version of the match, with no edits.

Un fucking believable...WWF gives absolutely no respect to Lynn, and for that matter, i guess they dont care for RVD either by editing those moves out. They dropped the ball here.

IT sure was..

And if that match was 6 minutes long why the hell did they edit that match when they had 54 minutes of other crap they could have edited from

another reason rather than needing more time may be because they felt it might have been alittle too 'violent' to have some of those spots on heat..i know thats completely retarded, but that makes alittle more sense to me since (as d2f said) they had plenty of other crap they could have edited to save time.

Harry, it is cable, not upn that heat airs on, and it is on late enough in the day that it shouldn't matter how "violent" the match was. It is more likely due to the fact that the fans don't respond very well to Jerry Lynn yet because he was never given a chance to show the people what he can really do. They are just showing that they would rather show people the piece of crap rock talk than show the people a great match between two great performers. Again talk over wrestling...god i am starting to hate the casual fan that this crap is being catered to!

I thought the Dean Malenko/Jerry Lynn match from a couple of months back was better, but I guess we'll never really know...

Just starting now? What took you so long?
I think they edited the match because they figured that the average MTV viewer just doesn't have the attention span to sit through a 10 minute match.

After that, and an AWFUL, AWFUL Raw episode, I'm about ready to give up on the WWF/WCW/ECW BS for good, or at least until they fire the idiot writers and get their heads out of their asses, and let the wrestlers *gasp* WRESTLE. But I won't get my hopes up...

(i know this match happened a week ago and i'm a little late replying...)

over here in england Heat used to be on Sunday afternoon at 4pm so they have to cut anything involving chairs, tables or the ring steps but then they moved it to about 11.45pm but they still cut it anyway. They also have to completly cut any female vs male matches like Lita Vs Spike Dudley.

When the Lynn/RVD match was on at about 12:30pm they didnt cut it (i didnt notice anyway) and showed the stuff involving the chair and i dont get why.

(slightly different topic) On Sky Sports1 (cable) ages ago when TLC 3 was on, they showed it at 2pm and even though its on cable they still couldnt show anything involving tables, ladders or chairs so it was all crowd shots!!! it sucked.

matilda, while i know you are our ambassador to england, last year i traveled to germany. i ended up watching raw and noticed the same thing. if it had to do with chairs or violence, it was cut...but if it had to do with girls being mostly naked it was fine. Its strange, cause the wwf puts on those england shows that we can't get in the states, and the tapes are always advertised as having nudity on them, while they edit it out of the american ppv's...you guys are ok with nudity, while we are ok with the violence...
