I don't know how many Nirvana fans are out there, but I figured there might be some interest.

Nirvava's Nevermind 10 years later

why do I say I'm fine when it's obvious I'm not?
why's it so hard to tell you what I want?
why can't you just read my mind?

Thanx for the link FMFB, that was really interesting. I was only 10 when Kurt died so i wasn't really into Nirvana until several years later. Thats why its cool for me to read that stuff about the band that i missed the first time around.

I used to like Nirvana until that weekend right after Kurts suicide. I heard more music by them that weekend then ever before and could not take it anymore. These days, the worst thing for your career and your music is to die, they play you until people cannot stand it and want to bring you back to kill you again.

Side Note: I had an ex who's sister for a few years insisted that Kurt Cobain talked to her through a poster she had of him, she was 14 when he died. It was insane to hear her talk about it.

what does it matter how many records it has sold?
the only thing that matters is that it's a great record that will live on forever.

Nirvana was a special band for me...I was a big KISS fan...one day I went to Slipped Disc in Valley Stream, and they had a tape of bands doing KISS songs...it was called "Hard To Believe:A Kiss Kovers Kompilation", and it led me to Seattle :)

I got home and threw on the tape...most of the bands were small name independent acts, but 2 tracks stood out to me...one was a version of "God Of Thunder" by the Melvins, the other was an almost mocking version of "Do You Love Me?" by some band called Nirvana...

The next day I went to the record store and asked about this band, Nirvana...Mike, the owner, went to his wall of tapes and handed me what would be one of my favorite all time albums, "Bleach".

That was it...from that moment on, I was a Nirvana fan...I was one of the lucky few to see them live, at Roseland, July 23, 1993...it was the night the debuted a lot of the material off "In Utero", and I was blown away...I even got to say hi to him while he, Courtney Love and little Francis Bean came out the back of the club...

The day they found him, I was working in Great Neck at Sam Goody, when a kid came in and told me they found a body at his estate...I was worried, but figured he messed up his information..when I got in the car, I put on K-RAWK and listened as they played album track after album track of Nirvana songs..."very Ape", "Serve The Servants", "Drain You"...I was shocked...the second I heard "Very Ape" i knew something terrible had happened...that night, I went to a band rehearsal that turned into playing Nirvana songs all night...

I'm feeling really old right now :(

I remember when I heard the news I had just gotten home from school and turned on MTV and there was the story. I was shell shocked and cried like a baby.

Bungle..you're so lucky you got to see them. When I was a freshman in high school, there was a senior in my biology class who I used to talk to and have a HUGE crush on. He had two tickets for the show and asked me to go with him, but being 14 and very virginal I was afraid he would expect something in return for the tickets (if you catch my drift). So I said no...and kick myself in the ass daily for it. I run into him every now and then and he teases me about it too...oh well...

That really sucks...it's weird, cause i was speakin with Jolene earlier, and I said basically the same thing...one of the more important band of our time, and not too many Americans got to see them perform...

Even today, when I pick up my guitar, I'm usually likely to play something by Nirvana as I warm up...

But good call on the expecting something, Nirvana tix were hard to come by lol

Nirvana,

Will always be one of my all time favorite bands. I was a Senior in HS when the seattle bands took over the music scene. I remember seeing smell like teen spirit for the firt time on MTV, and just being intracned by it. I went out the next day and bought it...
