Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | "Stillmatic" is a better album than "The Blueprint", but what does it even matter anymore? I just stay on Wu's shit, cuz theyre the most ingenious people in hip-hop right now...

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | I personally feel Nas alot more than I do Jay. Reasonable Doubt was a classic but his sound changed greatly after that. He went from Twenty Two 2's and Brooklyn's Finest to Big Pimpin and Girls Girls Girls. These days I view Jay as more of a businessman as opposed to a rapper. I just feel like hes just in it for the money anymore and not for the love of rap. Nas's first two albums were classics especially Illmatic. I am and Nastradamus fell off but I feel bootlegging was what caused those albums to be so weak in comparison. Those albums were two of the most heavily bootlegged albums that i can remember and subsequently he had to change the tracklisting a few times. I have about 10-15 unreleased nas songs that are all gems and were supposed to be the original tracks for those two. When people look back on hip hop I think they'll view nas as a legend who changed hip-hop. A pioneer of sorts like Rakim and Biggie. I think people will look at Jay as just an above average emcee who made it big in the industry. PS Stillmatic is alot better then the Blueprint. I'll put up a list of some unreleased Nas tracks soon, but for now d/l a song called Doo Rags off audiogalaxy. It was meant to be on Stillmatic but never made it, song is a classic.

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | I do disagree wen someone says that every rapper is in it for the money. Wheteher or not you agree with me there are alot of rappers who contiue to put out CD's and invest all of their energies into hip-hop even though they know that their albums will never come close to approaching gold. Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Jurassic 5, Pharoahe Monch, Chino Xl, Eyedea, Mc Juice, Supernatural, Tragedy Khadafi, Ras Kass. These are guys that put out albums that would blow the minds of the average hot97 listener. But in the same respect it just isnt a type of sound that the masses can appreciate subsequently it will never move alot of units. This never stops these true emcee's from investing all of their creative talents into making solid albums every time. Theyre happy keeping their small groups of loyal fans happy and that theyre able to keep the essence of hip hop alive. Just because alot of rappers dont care about the indutsry, don't generalize a whole genre as being in it strictly for the money cuz its just not true.

O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | When i first heard the blueprint, i thought. Jay has brought himself back to the game. I then heard stillmatic and then i said, Whoa! I was never a fan of Nas, but his lyrics for the most part were really deep. I love the battle they went through, but the two should realize what great lyricists they are. I love them both. - AIM:roweLENTless2001

They are really just friends and are giving popularity to one another. Well, thats just my opinion. EDIT: And rap stinks =)

Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | that pic was taken circa 96-97, these two really dont like each other, but its obviously not like biggie/pac shit. what theyre both doing is giving more money and attention to hip-hop in general...

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | The battle is the very essence of rap and actually most genres of music. From classical music to rap artists will always try to top other artists and sometimes like in sports great rivalries arise. That's how freestyling and original old schoolers got their start by competing in contests to see who had the best flows and great rivalries arose. One of the first I remember is LL Cool J and Kurtis Blow. I liked Nas back in the mid 90's but stillmatic just didn't do it for me. I would have to say I prefer jigga to esco on this one. Jay-Z just flows better and his beats are tight. Nas still deserves recognition but I just prefer Jay-Z. I'm Deep Inside Your Children. They Will Betray You In MY Name.

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: Umm did you ever hear Reasonable Doubt or Vol.1 Mr. Bones?? Jay might've fallen off and not be about hip-hop like he used to, but to say that he was never skilled. Damn that couldn't be any further from the truth. I don't particularly like him but I can't deny he has skill. Twenty-Two 2's?? Brooklyn's Finest?? 7-minute freestyle with Big L?? (even though L clearly outshined him)Theres alot of other classics from Jay. You aint gotta ride his dick like too many people do these days, but give him some credit. Even if he does steal BIG's lyrics.
