Anyone see that guy driving the truck (Joyride) in Vertical Limit? Everytime he's in a movie he always talks with no expression, emotion, or anything. It's hilarious.

Without Expression
Written by: Terry Reid 1968

Have you ever ridden horses through a rainstorm?
Or a lion through a busy street bazarre?
There are many things I'd love to turn you on to
But somehow I feel they're safer where they are

Yes, there's a man I know
With no expression
He's got none at all
Yes, there's a man that I know
With no expression, darling
He's got none at all

Well, some people are inbound with infatuation
And some others spill depression as the law
From one's mother getting at no imagination
So beware then, maybe sin is at your door

Yes, there's a man that I know
With no expression
He's got none at all
Yes, there's a man I know
With no expression
He's got none at all

But you may never, never
See this man laughing
Come to think of it,
I've never seen him cry
But he might be sitting
And you hear him singing
And by and by he'll stop and sigh
Before his voice would even begin to speak
And he'd just cry

Yes, There's a man I know
With no expression, darling
He's got none at all
Yes, There's a man that I know
With no expression
He's got none at all

Have you ever, ever ridden horses through a rainstorm?
Or a lion through a busy street bazarre?
There are many things I'd love to turn you on to
But somehow I feel they're safer where they are

Yes, There's a man that I know
With no expression
He's got none at all
There's a man that I know
With no expression
He's got none at all

Write To Me Here

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

THE EXTRAS

Joyride DVD is loaded
Two full-length commentary tracks are available on this DVD. The first one is made by director John Dahl, Steve Zahn and Leelee Sobieski. The second one is from writers Clay Tarver and J.J. Abrams. Nothing to write home about as they go about the typical discussions you would hear on commentary tracks. I must admit though that I couldn't really get through the entire Sobieski track without feeling a bit queasy and without being distracted by thoughts of flying breasts.

Another cool feature is the four alternate endings. Three of them are variations of what you'll find on the final cut but one of them is really cool. Basically, it's not an alternate ending, it's pretty much an entirely different movie. It takes over about halfway through the movie and takes it all the way to the end. One of the weirdest things I've ever seen. Really cool stuff. You also get a deleted scene in there but it's nothing special.

You also get to see auditions by three actors for the role of the voice of the villain. You never actually see him on screen, but his voice makes him creepy enough. It's pretty sad though, that Eric Roberts has been reduced to the point where he auditions for voice roles...and doesn't get them! A small "Making Of" featurette also discusses the typical points of the movie-making process. Naturally, the trailer is also here.
This is why I love DVDs

I rented the DVD when it first came out a few weeks ago. I liked the movie but i thought the ending blew. And the alternate endings weren't that much better. Steve Zahn is fucking funny though and he makes the movie good. check it out if you haven't.

When you watch the alternate endings on the DVD you know why they went with the one they did
Sequel

Doesn't Sobieski look and sound like a young version of Helen Hunt.

I said the same thing, I did like a couple of the other endings a little bit better then the one they eventually went with.

The alternate endings were alright, but the original was the best. Overall, I think the movie/DVD was good.
