I heard it was getting released today, but I haven't gotten a chance to listen yet.

I'd really like to see them when they tour. I love the Counterparts album.

I'll admit this...

I knew the single was coming out today and I knew
WDHA would play it today...right at f'n 3pm. I
missed the first 6 or 7 minutes of O & A because
of their "programming".

I thought "One Little Victory" rocked even though
Geddy's vocal's were overshadowed (IMO his voice
has matured nicely). They never release the best
material from a new CD as the first single anyway.

I'm really looking forward to hearing more.

I heard the song today on the way home from work. I don't remember the actual name of it, but it sounded pretty damn good to me.

I probably won't run out and buy this CD based on this one song alone, but if the others are like this one, then this CD has some potential.

Glad to see I'm not completely alone :)

Just finally got to hear the track (when I posted earlier I was at work, with no speakers  ), and I'm really digging it! I was afraid this album might end up being a rehash of Geddy's My Favorite Headache, but this track is definitly a departure from that. Album's out May 14, tour starts in June...

Can't.....Fucking.....Wait.....

P.S. - Eddie Trunk will be playing clips from other tracks off the "Vapor Trails" CD on tonight on Friday Night Rocks... or so says his website...

I've been a RUSH fan since I was a 15, and this song sounds pretty good. I know it's way to early, but if anyone is interested in meeting up before the shows (when they tour), count me in. Traditionally, I usually go to every area show when they come around. With these guys getting older, you never know when it might be their "last" time around.

Rush is one of the few bands from the late 60's and early 70's that are still relevant and still put out rockin' tunes.

I heard it on Saturday Night Rocks coming home last night and I have to say I was disappointed. Normally I really dig Rush but if I popped in a tape to listen to something else than it must have really been bad.

I love the kindredbabe, the MamaCaz, the SyKoPaThCHiK, and especially the RF and my little walking Disaster Area!!!!

I didn't want to let this thread die just yet
because this band DESERVES to be talked about...
and I wanted the status of the first Turk to post
in this thread to be inaccurate.

I caught the end of what Eddie Trunk played
(thanks, Av8er) and it kinda sorta sounded like
Geddy's solo effort mentioned above; I didn't
like it either. I thought Victor, Alex Lifeson's
solo CD was good, however. I think it showed that
they really do get a synergistic effect when
they're together.

Having said that, I think it's waaaaaay too early
to make any judgements about Vapor Trails.

Sure I understand where you're coming from. I also can't quite get past Signals as being there last good stuff, but my friend, YOU MISSED OUT. After Eddie played the new clips he gave us old RUSH fans a real treat.

Fucking Cygnus X-1

Book One - The Voyage
Prologue

In the constellation of Cygnus
There lurks a mysterious, invisible force
The Black Hole
Of Cygnus X-1

Six Stars of the Northern Cross
In mourning for their sister's loss
In a final flash of glory
Nevermore to grace the night...

1

Invisible
To telescopic eye
Infinity
The star that would not die

All who dare
To cross her course
Are swallowed by
A fearsome force

Through the void
To be destroyed
Or is there something more?
Atomized --- at the core
Or through the Astral Door ---
To soar...

2

I set a course just east of Lyra
And northwest of Pegasus
Flew into the light of Deneb
Sailed across the Milky Way

On my ship, the 'Rocinante'
Wheeling through the galaxies,
Headed for the heart of Cygnus
Headlong into mystery

The x-ray is her siren song
My ship cannot resist her long
Nearer to my deadly goal
Until the Black Hole ---
Gains control...

3

Spinning, whirling,
Still descending
Like a spiral sea,
Unending

Sound and fury
Drowns my heart
Every nerve
Is torn apart...

Eddie Trunk rocks my socks off. He is the only one who has the balls to play a song like that.

Well, IMHO... Rush is not fast food... you need to give it a few listens to really get into it...

I hated counterparts when it first came out... but after about a week I found my self really getting into it... so don't pass judgement too quick...

Of the "newer" Rush albums I would have to say Counterparts is not really high on my love-o-meter. It's a very raw-sounding disc with some rockin' moments, but overall it feels somewhat empty to me - almost forced. Test for Echo to me is a warmer (and albeit better, IMO) album, and that tour was awesome simply for the fact that they played 2112 from beginning to end - something I thought I would never see.

Rush is one of those bands that tries to change things up with each album. It's great to see them coming out again and apparently planning a HUGE tour this summer. In todays world where most "popular" music isn't even written by the artists who are perfoming it, it's a testament to see a band like Rush still be relevant. Peart has always been a god to me as well as an influence in my drumming techniques - I just hope I get to meet the man one day to shake his hand and thank him. He (as well as Geddy & Alex) have gotten me through some really rough times in my life.

something witty will be here soon...
