Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | Not exactly sure what the f this is about but here is some info: Jackass: The Movie Release Date: June/July, 2002 (basically being rushed into theaters, with filming taking place quickly and quietly...) Title Note: (3/21/02) Jackass: The Movie is just my own personal guess about what the title might be. The official title, which we will see on the official site or trailer, may be different. MPAA Rating: Nothing's official until the MPAA sees the final cut, but it's extremely likely that they will give this an R. Distributor: Paramount Pictures Production Companies: MTV Films (Joe's Apartment, Orange County, Election), Dickhouse Entertainment (the production company behind the TV show, formed by Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Being John Malkovich director Spike Jonze), Lynch/Siderow Productions Cast: Johnny Knoxville, Ryan Dunn, Bam Margera, Steve O; other cast not announced yet. See the IMDb listing for a list of stuntpeople who might costar. One of the people who might appear in this movie (since he's a fan of the show and appeared in two episodes) is... Brad Pitt. Director: Jeff Tremaine (feature debut; one of the show's creators, producers and writers) Score: The Jackass theme song is "Corona" by seminal 1980's group The Minutemen, who later evolved into fIREHOSE. Screenwriter: Johnny Knoxville (feature debut) Based upon: The popular and controversial "reality TV" and/or "daredevil stunt show" series that ran for two seasons (2000-2001) on MTV, starring Johnny Knoxville. In addition to this feature film, MTV has plans for three specials that will air later in 2002 or 2003. Some popular examples of what Knoxville (and crew) have done are: standing point-blank in front of a 300 psi firehose, testing the effectiveness of a protective jock strap by inviting people to assail his "nads", trying to become a "human raft" by covering himself with those plastic "bubble-wrap" things, and staying in a soiled porta-potty while it's turned upside-down. Premise: The details of this feature film aren't yet known, but it's quite possible that it might just be a "big screen" extension of the TV show, with Johnny Knoxville taking on a series of dangerous stunts and sanity-questioning dares. Filming: Production started in January, 2002 in Australia, where filming is expected to wrap sometime in April, 2002. There may be some filming in other nations, like the U.S.A. or Japan. Unofficial Fan/Clone Site: Bridgewood-Jackass.com (in addition to having lots of content about Knoxville's show, these college students stage their own version of Jackass; MTV does not encourage any other than professional stunt people to try to recreate the stunts or behavior of the show) Official TV Show Site: MTV.com Greg's Preview Thoughts: (3/21/02) Originally believed to be scheduled for late 2002 (or possibly much later), the lack of "buzz" about this project's filming has kept it off just about everybody's radar since Variety broke the news of plans for a Jackass movie in December, 2001. But... a reliable source has informed me that filming is not only well underway, but that Paramount is aiming for a big mid-summer, 2002 release in June or July. The exact nature of the movie isn't known, but it is apparently just a 90-minute version of the TV show, featuring a series of "real" stunts, pranks and dares, often involving extreme sports, nudity, gross items (like vomit and poo), and possible bodily injury. One summer movie that appears to be particularly impacted by this surprise release is Sony's XXX, which could get its "extreme sports edginess" preempted by Jackass (although there's also a world of difference between a Vin Diesel spy thriller and a Johnny Knoxville comedy). Buy it at AllPosters.com With June/July just three months away, I'd expect the official site and trailer to be launched soon. Stay tuned. (a few minutes later) On a purely rumor-inspired note, I've recently gotten word that Brad Pitt may have been spotted in London wearing an airplane pilot's uniform. With Pitt not currently filming any movies, might this have been part of a Jackass stunt? (3/23/02) A fan wrote in to say that Jackass cast member "Steve-O" was on the Howard Stern Show in January, where he revealed that they're taping a series of stunts called the "Vasectomy Olympics." Going over to O's official site, I also found a note in the message boards there that they are also planning on doing some filming in April involving tranquilizers and mountain lions. I can't wait for it to come out.quote:that wont matter at all. this thing will do very well if it is released all over the place. P.S. I'm pretty sure that Bam's movie "Haggard" is also going to be released in the near future. I believe that's more like a story based movie, though, which ive heard is supposed to be based on ryan dunn's life. ![]() AIM | 3DW | E-MAIL | ||||
