O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | I was thinking about it and I know these aren't good ideas and anyway, my way of "improving" on the newest installment comes from one line of dialogue. Amadala is talking about the first guy who boned her being a guy she met in Politics Camp but then left to be an artist. This is the character that might have been the Solo for this trilogy. Not a rip off of Solo but some sort of brash young guy who isn't all entrenched in this force or anything, the outsider's point of view. He comes back (still a senator possibly, fuck the artist thing), he sweeps Amadala off her feet, he's the only guy to realize the Palpatine's plot to become the all powerful emperor, end of episode 2 it's him and Amadala getting together- not her and Anakin. Episode 3 has him further realzing what the emperor is doing and the ties to Dooku and everything (remember the Jedi keep trying to use the force but they're clouded; no force he can have a more open mind and be distrustful of Jedi), Anakin angry with him for stealing his beloved kills him all horror show - he's the first innocent he kills. This brings the young padwan to the attention of Palpatine, who knew the threat of the young senator and realizes he can easily get him to play for his team. Meanwhile, Anakin forces himself on the mourning Amadala thus bringing about Luke and Leia. And he'd also be the one character who'd have great lines in the two flicks. Something along the lines of (to Anakin) "You're a nice kid and all but she was having her monthly visit while you were still in diapers!" I'm not saying it's any good, just that I'd enjoy it more. Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | Okay, here's another thing that's pissed me off about these movies. Did anyone NOT know that Palpatine was the Emporer about halfway through Episode 1? Written well, that could have been a Sixth Sense'ish surprise in Episode 3 and really kicked ass. Instead, I've spent an episode and a half screaming at the screen. Like someone else in another thread said, I'm going to see the third because...I have to. AND THAT PISSES ME OFF MORE!!! It wasn't lies, it was just...bullshit.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | quote: Im not tring to be a dick, but you should have known that before the movie. Unless you mean that the emperor is Darth Sidious. They explained in the first trilogy about Palpatine becoming the emperor. For a real twist, Lucas should somehow make the Emperor NOT Darth Sidious.

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | Just saw it, and I think it was phenomenal. I was expecting a shit-fest only slightly better than Episode I, but it was 20,000 leagues better. 1) Yoda looked pretty good actually. Would have preferred the old Frank Oz hand manipulation, but this was good enough. 2) Dialogue was alright, not great, but not bad. I didn't find myself cringing as I did with Patty's wig snatch. 3) Acting was alright also. A bit flat, but hey, was the acting in these films ever great? 4) The worlds Lucas created were fantastic. A little too busy, but colorful, sprawling, and vibrant nonetheless. Coruscant at night was wild. Reminded me of Blade Runner. 5) The new creatures were unbelievable, especially during the arena scene. 6) The Jedi battle and Yoda's fight with Dooku were extraordinary. Both should have lasted longer though. 7) I liked the few explanations of later events, none of which I'll mention for those who haven't seen it yet. Overall, I thought it was wonderful. Much more like the originals than Phantom. Lucas places way too much importance on digital effects though. Throw in some damn models and animatronics George, it won't kill ya! O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | quote: Actually.. the name "Palpatine" is not mentioned once throughout the entire original trilogy. While the fact that Senator palpatine does become the "Emperor" is basic knowledge to any even slightly serious Star Wars fan.. if the only prior experience you've had with Star Wars is JUST the movies, you wouldn't know that. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | 100% postitive.. that's actually WHY any semi-serious fan would know it, but if someone only saw the movies they wouldn't, BECAUSE it's in the novelization but not the films, and any semi-fan would certainly read the books. I am speaking of the ORIGINAL trilogy, not "Special Edition" I'm not certain about it not being worked into special edition, though I believe it wasn't. No! I am NOT a Goth Dude!! O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | Finally saw it last night. I was a bit disappointed. The special effects were phenomenal. But it seemed like Lucas just gave up on the story. It was almost like you were expected to know what would happen, so he didn't try and provide any extra substance to things. It all seemed very bare-bones. The highlight of the movie had to be the battle scene at the end, and the lightsaber duel between Yoda & Christopher Lee. That one little duel should have lasted much longer than it did, because it was amazing. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray...
