Korn's guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer has issued a statement retracting a comment he made about Hitler.

Shaffer caused controversy by claiming "Hitler went to Heaven."

But he has now apologised, saying his comments "read confusingly" in his interview with Metal Hammer magazine.

In the interview, Shaffer is quoted as saying "I think this is true Hitler went to Heaven (if there is such a thing as Heaven really exists).

"He felt that what he did was right, and I think that if what you feel you're doing is right, in your heart, then you can't be wrong."

But his new statement reads: "Hitler's fate and treatment in the afterlife is determined by a higher power, not me or anyone else. I apologise to anyone who was offended by my comments, which read confusingly in Metal Hammer."

Shaffer also 'apologised' to the world for Fred Durst in his original interview, saying Korn helped break Limp Bizkit after Durst presented the band with Bizkit's demo tape.
