I was just curious what the worst opening act you ever saw was...everyone gets the shitty wannabe bands, but sometimes they're just beyond pathetic and painful...

Personally I remember the Lily Hayden band opening for Page & Plant a few years ago, it was some annoying twat trying to rock out on a violin...

A long time ago I saw this lame band called Korn open for Biohazard and House of Pain. Two years later...well you know the rest.

5 years ago I saw Deftones, White Zombie, and Pantera..I thought the Deftones were bad, but then White Zombie was even worse! They get my vote...

There is this local band in my area called Wicked Witch, they opened for one of my bands first shows (that was not booked by us), but this band was absolutely horrible. They were a trio with this fat, nasty lead singer/bassist who wore a pirate shirt, black leather pants and used a headset microphone. This band was a bunch of middle aged losers trying to relive their youth. I felt so bad for them because A) they sucked major ass and B) because they sucked ass only some of the other bands were around to watch them, everyone else left and came back when they were done. They rank right up there with Zebra easily. I think I would see Zebra before these guys.

I've seen a couple shitty openers:

Flaming Lips opening for the Butthole surfers

or System of the Down & Clutch opening for SLAYER

Starkiss & Big Truck opening For Dream Theater

Coal Chamber opening for Pantera & Type O Negative

Korn when they opened for Ozzy in 1996 THEY WERE Sloppy (but they had rocked in 1995 when they opened for Megadeth in 1995)

and various other horrible bands whose names I've forgot

As Maynard stated, anyone can have a bad night...

My brother actually saw Eric Clapton booed off the stage, at the now demolished Roosevelt Stadium , which was in Jersey City, back in '72, or '73...he was so fucked up that after a 45min. people were throwing shit at him. It happens to icons also....

windowlck...I was just going to say that, Dream Theater has had some REALLY BAD opening acts for their shows, except Metropolis II (Dixie Dregs- Steve Morse's band)

You must have caught Coal Chamber on a bad night too, cuz they kicked ass with Type O Negative and Electric Hellfire Club

Thats funny, I saw one of those shows and thought just the opposite-GNR was not worth the wait, but Soundgarden rocked. But then again, I did listen to the Jaegermeister CD...

I was there too. Right about the time Chris Cornell dissed the Rangers was when I started giving them the double birdie. They got alot better since then, but they definately did not belong there that night.

I saw this band called Monarchy open for Fugazi at The Palladium a few years back, they were so bad I thought they were a joke.
Another crappy opener was Carpel Tunnel opening for Fear Factory at Tramps, they almost got booed off the stage.
I saw Filter open for Ozzy in 96 and they weren't that good. They got the crowd pissed off at them.
