Most (and I use that word cautiously) of the people who regularly post in this forum have pretty good taste in music, so I was wondering, for those who are having problems finding anything new/good out there, we could post some suggestions here...

Is there anything new out there that you guys are into? Any good new albums? Anything you're waiting to come out soon?

In the last 2 months I have picked out some really, really good music:

-Tantric (former members of Days of the New)
-Train, Drops of Jupiter (pick up their first one, too!)
-Isle of Q (just saw them live-great band)
-Ben Harper, Live from Mars
-Monster Magnet, God Says No

I've heard the new Toadies wasn't bad; can't wait for new Black Crowes, Blues Traveler

I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant.

I for one, can't figure out what CDs to buy anymore...there seems to be a lack of good new music. I have been listening less and less to the radio and more and more to older CDs etc.

Me, too, Feel...all the new music I buy is off of independent labels like Meteor City and Man's Ruin (for my doom/stoner rock- for lack of a better name)...Right now, this music seems to have the biggest underground scene going on, which means that it'll be watered down soon in popularity...try this one: Raging Slab- The Dealer, kinda southern rock....

I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant.

Thanks Spit...its gets to be very upsetting when the artists that you liked when they came on to the scene change their whole persona in order to be more commercially sucessful. I know the music industry is about the money, but its really sad that you have to write and sing bubble head songs in order to really get somewhere. The artists with the real talent and insightfulness never get commercial sucess while studio manufactured artists like Britney Spears etc. sells millions...

There's really no place to listen to new music anymore...NY radio sucks, except for 3-7. No stations play good, new music.

He should have seen it coming, but it happened way too fast

I didn't mean for this to be a thread to complain about the state of music (we all know how bad it is)...I just wanted to see if anyone's actually gotten off their asses and looked for and found something different and new that they can recommend to everyone else, since most people are have a hard time finding new music

Yes the new TOADIES cd RAWKS.

The new WEEZER cd should be out May 15.

TOOL should have one also around the same time.

BLUE ÖYSTER CULT are looking at a June release date for their new cd.

I think THE BREEDERS are in the studio also putting together something after 8 years (they took longer than the TOADIES)

FRANK BLACK AND THE CATHOLICS new cd DOG IN THE SAND came out in January and is a great listen.

Something from last year some of you might have missed is GRANDADDY'S cd Software Slump it's got a mellow Pink Floyd style or Lo-Fi as i've heard it called.

If you were caught up in all the hair bands from the late 80's and then switched over to NIRVANA in the early 90's you might have missed out on one of the most influential bands of the time, PIXIES, do yourself a favour and pick up either their 1988 cd Surfer Rosa or 1989 cd Doolittle. You will thank me. The PIXIES and those 2 cd's influenced bands of the alternative & grunge genre.

Hope this helps a little spitfire421.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few, but I'll post them later.

Parents have a big misconception about rock. Like they say, "I don't want you to be involved with it because you'll become a drug addict or an alcoholic." Well, guess what? If I wasn't in rock n' roll I'd be a real mess...

I'm waiting for the Depeche Mode myself. The new song "Dream On" is classic DM! The new Toadies CD ROCKS! Too bad Ben hates them.....

Won't be hearing any of those songs on his show...

Now we are having fun.

The new Clutch album is good and loud.
Also a friend turned me onto a band from Washington called The Melvins. They have been around awhile though. I listened to them a bit a few years ago but they didn't click with me. But now I have found a new appreciation for them. They are not everyone's music though, so d/l some of their stuff from Napster first to see if you like it. If you do, go out and buy at least one of their albums though, because they don't make much money. Every CD of theirs sold makes a huge difference to them and they turn around and go back into the studio as soon as they can afford it. Some of their stuff is more acceptable then others. Check out Houdini or Stoner Witch.

The new Tool album should be great. Also I hear Radiohead is releasing a new album of material that was produced during production of Kid A but wasn't released. And I can't wait for the new Slipknot album.

FYI: The lead singer of Powerman 5000 is Rob Zombie's brother. Pretty good band.

Also, if you like Tool, get the DVD box set. Contains a DVD with the four videos on it UNCENSORED. And comes with a CD with 65 minutes of music on it. Includes a great cover of Zep's NO Quarter. The only thing you may not liek is there are only 8 tracks, but some of the tracks have three songs in them. Makes it tough to get to the one song you want if its the third song on the track.

And I just upgraded to Digital Cable. The jukebox channels play a pretty good variety of music including stuff that doesn't get radio time. I'll be listening for new stuuf there.

Arthur smiled at him wanly and shrugged again. He turned and smiled wanly at the rest of the pub just in case any of them had heard what was going on. None of them had, and none of them could understand what he was smiling at them for.

Actually there is 5 videos on the Tool DVD. It's their first video "Hush" from Opiate. It is hidden but it is kind of easy to find. I found it in less than 2 minutes after knowing it was there.
