Against the Wind - Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio, playin' low
The secrets that we shared
Mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
'Til there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove

And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me, oh so tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Against the wind
We were running against the wind
We were young and strong and we were running
Against the wind

The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
Found myself further and further from my home
I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worrying about paying or even how much I owed

Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that we bent
Began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again

Against the wind
I was running against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter
Against the wind

But those drifter's days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out

Against the wind
I'm still running against the wind
Well I'm older now but still running
Against the wind
Against the wind
Against the wind....

Great choice! Here's a Seger Rock Block (TOG) for everyone!

Old Time Rock & Roll

Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
Today's music aln 't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll
Don't try to take me to a disco
You'll never even get me out on the
In ten minutes I'll be late for the door
I like that old time rock'n' roll

Still like that old time rock'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll
Won't go to hear them play a tango
I'd rather hear some blues or funky old soul
There's only sure way to get me to go
Start playing old time rock 'n' roll
Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill
Today' music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Still like that old time rock'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll

Still the Same

You always won, everytime you placed a bet
You're still damn good, no one's gotten to you yet
Everytime they were sure they had you caught
You were quicker than they thought
You'd just turn your back and walk
You always said, the cards would never do you wrong
The trick you said was never piay the game too long
A gambler's share, the only risk that you would take
The only loss you could forsake
The only bluff you couldn't fake

And you're still the same
I caught up with you yesterday
Moving game to game
No one standing in your way
Turning on the charm
Long enough to get you by
You're still the same
You still aim high

There you stood, everybody watched you play
I just turned and walked away
I had nothing left to say

'Cause you're still the same
You're still the same
Moving game to game
Some thlngs never change
You're still the same

Hollywood Nights

She stood there bright as the sun on that California coast
He was a midwestern boy on his own
She looked at him with those soft eyes,
so innocent and blue
He knew right then he was too far from home He was too far from home

She took his hand and she led him along that golden beach
They watched the waves tumble over the sand
They drove for miles and miles
up those twisting turning roads
Higher and higher and higher they climbed

And those Hollywood nights
In those Hollywood hills
She was looking so right
In her diamonds and frills
All those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
She had all of the skills

He'd headed west 'cause he felt that a change
would do him good
See some old friends, good for the soul
She had been born with a face that would her
get her way
He saw that face and he lost all control
He had lost all control

Night after night, day after day, it went on and on
Then came that morning he woke up alone
He spent all night staring down at the lights of LA
Wondering if he could ever go home

And those Hollywood nights
In those Hollywood hills
It was looking so right
It was giving him chills
In those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
With a passion that kills

In those Hollywood nights
In those Hollywood hills
She was looking so right
In her diamonds and frills
All those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
She had all of the skills

On a long and lonesome highway east of omaha
You can listen to the engine, moanin out it's one note song

You can think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do

When your riding sixteen hours and there's nothing there to do

You don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

Here I am, on the road again
Here I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page

Well you walk into a restaraunt, strung out from the road

And you feel the eyes opon you, as your shaking off the cold

You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode

Sometimes you can hear 'em talk, other times you can't

All the same old cliche's, is that a woman or a man

And you always seem outnumbered, you dare not make a stand

Out there in the spotlight, your a million miles away

Every ounce of energy, you try to give away
And the sweat pours from your body, like the music that you play

Later in that evening, as you lie awake in bed
With the echos of the amplifiers, ringin in your head

You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said

TRAVELIN' MAN

UP WITH THE SUN, GONE WITH THE WIND,

SHE ALWAYS SAID I WAS LAZY.

LEAVIN' MY HOME, LEAVIN' MY FRIENDS,

RUNNIN' WHEN THINGS GET TOO CRAZY.

OUT ON THR ROAD, OUT 'NEATH THE STARS,

FEELIN' THE BREEZE, PASSIN' THE CARS.

WOMEN HAVE COME, WOMEN HAVE GONE,

EVERYONE TRYIN' TO CAGE ME.

SOME WERE SO SWEET, I BARELY GOT FREE,

OTHERS, THEY ONLY ENRAGED ME.

SOMETIMES AT NIGHT, I SEE THEIR FACES,

I FEEL THE TRACES THEY LEFT ON MY SOUL.

THOSE ARE THE MEMORIES THAT MADE ME A WEALTHY SOUL.

TRAVELIN' MAN, LOVE WHEN I CAN,

TURN LOOSE MY HAND 'CAUSE I'M GOIN'.

TRAVELIN' MAN, CATCH IF YOU CAN,

BUT SOONER OR LARE I'M GOIN'.

TRAVELIN' MAN ... TRAVELIN' MAN, YES I AM.

SOMETIMES AT NIGHT, I SEE THEIR FACES,

I FEEL THE TRACES THEY LEFT ON MY SOUL.

THESE ARE THE MEMORIES THAT MADE ME A WEALTHY SOUL.

THESE ARE THE MEMORIES THAT MADE ME A WEALTHY SOUL.

Wow, this music topic took off between yesterday and today...I'm a postin' fool LOL This song makes me think of the movie American Pop, which is a GREAT music cartoon (if that's what you can call it) by the guys who did Fritz the Cat

Night Moves

I was a little too tall
Could've used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high

Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves
In the summertime
In the sweet summertime

We weren't in love, oh no, far from it
We weren't searchin' for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Livin' by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods
I used her, she used me
But neither one cared
We were gettin' our share
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin' on our night moves
And it was summertime

And oh the wonder
We felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder

I awoke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in

I feel all nostalgic now!

I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant.
