O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | It's funny, I never got into Phish (lol, I like Bouncing Around the Room)--and I've gotten over my attitude that they just want to be the Dead-- but I've been into some jam-heavy stuff lately and it's the summer, so I might try to listen to some... Any suggestions, danked? I have one for you, try to find the band Cactus, I'm sure you'll like them :) the drummer and his solos are so amazing

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | there's a lot of fantastic jambands out there, spit... check out jambands.com and jambase.com to read some reviews. my personal fave is Deep Banana Blackout, but i haven't seen them with the new singer. but they have got a tremendous collaboration of musicians. i discovered them when i went to see moe. i'd also recommend you go see Dark Star Orchestra who reenact some of the best dead shows note for note. everyone in the band plays and sound like the member of the dead they are supposed to represent (my brother just told me they're playing at a big festival in PA this weekend if you wanna check them out. there's a lot of great jambands playin'....) by the way, phish never wanted to be the dead, it was the phish fans that wanted them to be. but they're two diffrent kinds of music... Kinda gets you by the boo-boo, don't it?

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | definitely pick up a live concert first cause the studio albums are a little rough. i'd recommend "A Live One" which has "Bouncin'" on it and if you find someone who has it borrow "Hampton Comes Alive". it's great, but it's a six disc box set of the live shows from Hampton Coliseum so it's about $65. if you like it, Junta was their first studio album and the best. Farmhouse and Story of the Ghost were the last two released and they're very good. *edit* spit, if you like, i can just mail you some bootlegs if you want. i've got a lot of good shows. Kinda gets you by the boo-boo, don't it? This message was edited by danked on 5-24-01 @ 12:52 PM

Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | Whale & Wasp - Alice In Chains. Stone Temple Pilots has a really good instrumental or two, and I was surprised at that. Also, for anyone in NY, a local band called The Lab, who are friends of mine, are amazing instrumentalists. That's all they do, and I swear they are the tightest local band I have ever heard. If you get the chance and see an advert for them, go see them. They really rock. Has chafed balls from Grumpy's constant sweating them since 5/13/01 Adopted by Fez as of 5-13-01
