I love both bands to death but I want to know what other people think.

Zepplin has more talent, but Sabbath has more influence.

The core and spirit of metal and hard rock is Sabbath.

Hence Ozzfest.

Sabbath!

War Pigs

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction

In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds,

Oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes were the bodies burning
No more war pigs of the power
Hand of god has struck the hour

Day of judgement, god is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings

OH LORD YEAH!

damn, I knew I adopted you for a reason lol...what sod said

Led Zepplin - gods of rock

Black Sabbath - The Godfathers of Metal
how can you beat a band whose sole purpose was to scare the shit out of teenagers

Black Sabbath

What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me
Turn around quick and start to run
Find out I'm the chosen one, oh nooo!

Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan's sitting there, he's smiling
Watches those flames get higher and higher
Oh no, no, please God help me!

Is it the end, my friend?
Satan's coming 'round the bend
People running 'cause they're scared
The people better go and beware!
No, no, please, no!

Silent hell on the marble slab
The best trip that I've ever had
Higher than a jet plane, pass it around
My drinks on empty, need another round

I wanna fly, wanna ride with you
Is this the best that you can do?
I wanna fly, wanna ride with you
Higher than a jet plane with you

- The Wizard -

Misty morning, clouds in the sky
Without warning, the wizard walks by
Casting his shadow, weaving his spell
Funny clothes, tinkling bell

Never talking
Just keeps walking
spreading his magic

Evil power disappears
Demons worry when the wizard is near
He turns tears into joy
Everyone's happy when the wizard walks by

Never talking
Just keeps walking
spreading his magic

Sun is shining, clouds have gone by
All the people give a happy sigh
He has passed by, giving his sign
Left all the people feeling so fine

Never talking
Just keeps walking
spreading his magic

SOD, you made a wise choice in adoptors, my friend. I speak from experience. In some strange, convoluted way, I'm your foster brother LOL ;)

Tony, tough choice. Both bands are phenomenal. But since I already posted a song in your Zeppelin thread last night...

Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath

You've seen life through distorted eyes
You know you had to learn
The execution of your mind
You really had to turn

The race is run the book is read
The end begins to show
The truth is out, the lies are old
But you don't want to know

Nobody will ever let you know
When you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own
Fill your head all full of lies

The people who have crippled you
You want to see them burn
The gates of life have closed on you
And now there's just no return

You're wishing that the hands of doom
Could take your mind away
And you don't care if you don't see again
The light of day

Nobody will ever let you know
When you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own
Fill your head all full of lies
You bastards

Where can you run to?
What more can you do?
No more tomorrow
Life is killing you

Dreams turn to nightmares
Heaven turns to hell
Burned out confusion
Nothing more to tell

Everything around you
What's it coming to?
God knows as your dog knows
Bog blast all of you

Sabbath, bloody sabbath
Nothing more to do
Living just for dying
Dying just for you, yeah

Thats like askin whats a better religion. You will never get an unanimous answer. But if i had to vote i would have to say Zepplin.

Give me the lyrics and the music of Sabbath over Zepplin any day. Page never played a clean solo in his life and Plant does have a better voice, but he goes so over the top, it becomes a torture! Gezzer and Ward are easily the equals of Bonham and Jones.

Of course the best rhythm section is still Moon and Entwistle, and if you have to ask who they are, get a clue...lol

Hmmm.... let's see.

Zepplin
  1. More classic hits
  2. More commerically known
  3. The originators not imitators
  4. Wider Age range of followers
  5. The inspiration for bands like Sabbath

Black Sabbath
  1. Lack originality
  2. Too bad Ozzy left (so did the talent)
  3. Loud, obnoxious, monotonous music style (good, but no diversity)
  4. Yes, they have a following but not as large as Zepplin

There is no comparison. Zepplin most definitely.

Sabbath. Better lyrics- more thought provoking. Plus Zepplin did "The Bridge".

Happy Summer Dudes & Dudettes

Both have influenced generations, and will continue to do so, myself a part thereof...

"Black Sabbath has been so influential in the development of heavy metal rock music as to be a defining force in the style. The group took the blues-rock sound of late '60s acts like Cream, Blue Cheer, and Vanilla Fudge to its logical conclusion, slowing the tempo, accentuating the bass, and emphasizing screaming guitar solos and howled vocals full of lyrics expressing mental anguish and macabre fantasies. If their predecessors clearly came out of an electrified blues tradition, Black Sabbath took that tradition in a new direction, and in so doing helped give birth to a musical style that continued to attract millions of fans decades later."

"Led Zeppelin was the definitive heavy metal band. It wasn't just their crushingly loud interpretation of the blues — it was how they incorporated mythology, mysticism, and a variety of other genres (most notably world music and British folk) — into their sound. Led Zeppelin had mystique. They rarely gave interviews, since the music press detested the band. Consequently, the only connection the audience had with the band was through the records and the concerts. More than any other band, Led Zeppelin established the concept of album-oriented rock, refusing to release popular songs from their albums as singles. In doing so, they established the dominant format for heavy metal, as well as the genre's actual sound."

Far be it from me to disagree with the Grumster, but Black Sabbath was never sued for plagurism. Led Zepplin was and lost to Willie Dixon over the song "Whole Lotta Love."

And Sabbath and Zepplin released their first albums the same year, 1969. In fact, it wasn't until Zepplin released Physical Graffitti that people stopped comparing the 2 bands.

But I would enjoy Zepplin a lot more if I didn't hear the same 5 songs over and over on the radio. Again, NY radio (except 3-7) sucks.
