In the early 1990's Janes addiction put out their 3rd album and it influenced so many bands after wards. They formed the biggest concert event of the decaded, lollapaloza and their member have gone off to become famous in their own light.

They weren't as big as the other bands mentioned in this thread, but they formed the foundation of nineties rock.

Everything you said except about lollapaloza you could also insert another 80/90's band the PIXIES. Three of the four members of the band are still playing in bands today. Frank Black and the Catholics, The Breeders, The Martinis. The drummer somehow became a magician. In my opinion they had more of a influence on a hell of alot more bands in the 90's than Janes Addicion and were a hell of alot less known.

A list of a few bands they influenced:
Nirvana
Toadies
Tin Machine (yes David Bowies band)
PJ Harvey
Better Than Ezra
Pavement
Placebo
Hole
The Verve Pipe
Foo Fighters
House of Large Sizes
Nada Surf
Presidents of the United States of America
Everclear
Samiam
The Get-up kids
Local H
Spoon
Veruca Salt
Enon
Radiohead
Baboon
Weezer
Matthew Good Band
Eve 6

If there were a mid decade catagory I would give the PIXIES the title of best band of the Late 80's Early 90's. Their music single handedly dug the grave for hair band music and paved the way for Post Punk/Grunge/Alternative/Surf-a-billy space rock/Beach Boys meet Black Sabbath/Psychopathic balladry music and pioneered the soft-loud dynamic mixture sound of punk and pop with fractured lyrics. Not GnR (they were hair band music) or U2 (some good music but they couldn't influence a bird to fly).

If I had to pick a solid band of the 90's with PIXIES influence it would have to be FOO FIGHTERS with Nirvana a close second.

I don't like Korn that much either, but that's not the question at hands. [Insert grunge band here]is definative of the first half of the '90's, but the second half was ruled by Korn and their ilk.

BoxOfWine will be attending the Mr. Brownstone Academy of Dance until 7/20, one more opening available.
