'N Sync LP Already
On Fast Track

Teen-pop haters, prepare to gnash your teeth.

Industry sources say that 'N Sync has enjoyed another humongous opening sales week, thanks to their "Celebrity" album, which was released last Tuesday. It's expected to have moved roughly 2 million copies, which would give it the second-biggest debut week in history.

'N Sync already holds the record for the largest opening week: "No Strings Attached" pushed 2.4 million platters in March 2000.

N'Sync shows up to greet fans on MTV's 'TRL.'
Sources put "Celebrity's" opening-day sales at nearly 1 million, although purchases may have dropped off during the week due to 'N Sync's uncommonly impulsive fan base. Official sales figures will be released tomorrow.

Naysayers had forecast a somewhat gloomier picture for the boy band's new album, based on radio's tepid reponse to the CD's lead single, "Pop." It peaked at No. 19 on Billboard's Hot 100 Song chart. "Bye Bye Bye," the single that preceeded their last LP, had hit No. 1.

" 'Bye, Bye Bye' was just the perfect song for the time," explains Billboard's chart bard Geoff Mayfield.

Yet the group has found other ways to gain early exposure. They've toured 50,000-capacity stadiums for nearly two months prior to this album's release. And they have a sponsorship deal with Verizon, which puts their voices on radio stations that never would consider playing their records.

The group's label, Jive, has been conservative in its projections, expecting 1.8 million in sales, which would equal the current No. 2 opener of all time, Eminem's "Marshall Mathers LP."

The boys are sales-savvy, Justin Timberlake told MTV.com last week, "but all that stuff, we really don't take it into consideration. We want to stick around for longer than the first week."

::Hides head in shame:: I bought the CD but its okay...I bought the bootleg...I only buy the real CDs from bands that I really like....

Your mind won't let you say that you want me
Your mind won't ever, never let you have what you want
I feel your hunger to taste me
Still your mind won't ever let you say
Your kind is just the type that should use me
But your mind won't seem to let you have
The opportunity to abuse me, abuse me
Your mind won't even let you feel

Savor the addiction,
savor the affliction, savor me
